I don't see a revealing smiley, and it's way off topic -- but you tee it up and I'll swing at it.

There is a large group of people (you've probably heard of them) who don't (can't, shouldn't) eat meat during Lent, but *can* eat fish. Connect the dots now?

    Back to beer.

That's quite a definitive statement considering that expertise can be in the eye of the beholder.

I wondered how sanitary that was the first time I saw the video. I guess with regular cleaning it's possible it's not too bad? Or Europeans would say we're too concerned with sanitation?

    Fair enough. I don't disagree.

For comparison, many of the regular BA's are quite informed if not complete subject experts. So if this group of lunatics can turn out some knowledge it should not be too much to ask for a professional to get it correct. IMO.

    Cheers

Who is this group you speak of? Vegetarians?

In my fit of rage I failed to note sarcasm. To be clear I think the headline is ridiculous.

If you can use a computer and you can read English then I figured it is obvious.

Do they refill used glassware from the tap in Europe? In Oregon in the late 60's taverns weren't allowed to refill a glass. This was a good regulation. Of course, in the name of sanitation, they also banned unpasturized bottled beer, a needless precaution.

A Pilsner is a style of a Lager.

People also should realise that concepts don't neatly translate from one context to another without accounting for the differences. Context here being time and culture.

Each of the examples below is consistent within a specific (historical, regional, domain..) context
    Winterbier/Schenkbier - Lagerbier
    Weissbier - Braunbier - Weizenbier - Graezzer
    Untergaeriges Lagerbier - Obergaeriges Lagerbier
    Lagerbier - Export - Maerzen - Bock - Pils
    Helles Lagerbier - Dunkles Lagerbier
    Lager - Ale - Stout - Bitter
    Mild - Stock/Stale
    Lehké (below 8P) - výčepní (8-10P) - ležák (11-13P) - speciál (> 13P)
    Schankbier (< 10.9P) - Vollbier (11-16P) - Starkbier (>16P)
Oberhefe (Weissbier) - Unterhefe (ie. Bayrisches Lagerbier & Geuze)

Pilsner Urquell used to brew a stronger (13 Plato) and the commonplace 11P (now 11 1/2P) version, only referring to stronger one as Lagerbier.

Not if the writer of the article was paid* by the word...

    * Of course, suggesting that someone might be paid at all for such internet articles might make me a Luddite. I've already been plagiarized - one business once copy/pasted the text of one of my webpages for their history of the Growler. Hey, they gave me "Jess Kidden" credit, while a lot of copy/pasters have not.

Has anyone noticed that Mr. Behr's article was "updated" yesterday? I didn't memorize it, but it seems shorter and some of the info is gone.

The link to the BA Miller High Life listing is gone too.

    Power of knowledge?
