What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3184

Good morning BAs and thanks @DoctorZombies for starting today's thread! Off to another typical summer day here on the tundras of NW PA - cool, damp, and dark. Surprisingly, my garden is doing well and, not surprisingly, tomatoes, zukes, and peppers will start coming in in about 10 days, while we're in Iceland. Oh well, at least my son, the neighbors, and the wildlife will get some fresh veggies. Today's New Breakfast Beer is one I've been patiently waiting to drink, after sitting on it for a nine-month gestation period:



Sadly, I'm somewhat disappointed. While it's certainly a good brew, it's not what I was expecting (hoping for). I LOVE black walnuts - when I was an undergraduate there was a crappy off-campus store that sold Archway Icebox Black Walnut cookies but they were frequently out of them. When they had any, I'd buy a package or two. When I'd check back a couple of days later, they'd be gone. Years passed. At work one day I was talking to my co-microbiologist and found we shared the same cookie experience, at the same store, in overlapping years. But that's beside the point. The black walnut experience I was looking for didn't occur. Sorry, Jackie O's, this was a decent Impy stout but failed to meet my expectations. Rating 3.55, rDev -15.5%.

 

This is going to be an amazing weekend! I will drink a lot incredible beers, and most of those beers will be split with other people who post on WBAYDN regularly! Get ready to see me in a lot of posts this weekend!

Spiteful Brewing's Norm is a Son of a Bitch



This is my favorite Roggenbier to date, will never pass up a good rye beer!

Looking forward to grabbing some Wolf and other 3 Sheeps 4/6 packs home, missed out last year since I didn't do my trip with only one of Wisconsin's "Big Three" (New Glarus and Central Waters the other two) being open for business.

IMO, while NG (Kolsch & Fruit/Sours) and CW (thin but flavorful / great stouts) have their strengths, 3 Sheeps is Wisconsin's premier brewer across many styles.

Good afternoon BA's! This is my last day off this week.☹️ Gonna make the best of it. Drinking a new offering from my local brewery NoFo Brew Co. This is Fifth Wheel, a 4.5% ABV Hefeweizen. It's lighter bodied than most of you German imports, but makes for a refreshing quaff on a hot, sticky Georgia afternoon. Cheers all!

Karl Strauss Mosaic IPA 5.5%. Not the biggest fan of Mosaic hops but I forgot how good this stuff is when fresh.
