Chicagoland Lagers (2021)

Anyone got a currently available lager suggestion for a 4th of July party? The 1776 box of PBR was a little too much

 

I have been recently enjoying Pollyanna Lite Thinking and their Lite Thinking with key lime. Tasty, low abv , and refreshing.

Also @REVZEB ,not sure if you're a fan, but I bought a 12 pack of High Life tall boys for $7.99 at Binny's the other week. I'll be going back for more soon enough.

 

I am currently enjoying Imperial Oak I.O. Style. A little sweeter than I expected: I wanted it to have more bite, but really nice. If price is the question, go Old Style for bite or High Life for sweetness.

Yeah the idea is to support something local yet drinkable for the macro crowd.

 

Metropolitan has some nice 12 packs out IIRC.

 

I’m liking Midwest Coast’s Volkslager. Not as much as Fader, but could be a good choice for the macro crowd.

 

How does Lu compare to our other friendly neighborhood Kolsch options? (Metro, Dovetail, New Glarus.) I saw that sale and thought it might be good motivation to try it. Not lager, but German.

I like Midwest Coast’s ESB and brown in cans. Haven’t tried the lager yet.

 

Lu is real solid. It’s won an a medal a few years back at GABF. It’s also year round which means they brew it a lot and have it right where they want it. It’s not a beta batch

 

I'd love to see some of their non-core beers hit distro. They are definitely one of the more promising new breweries to pop up lately.

 

The New Zealand Strong lager is an eye opener.

 

Anyone at goldfinger? How mobbed is it?

 

They don’t appear to be at full capacity yet. The Grodziskie I will say is better than Dovetail. I could drink it all afternoon easily.
