Considering that her beers seem to stay up on the Half Acre website for months at a time...wouldn't be stunned if she went elsewhere.

    @Sabtos From the Tribune article:

Ugh. I guess. I've done my part to buy bottles ... I was happy to be able to get them without to much trouble.

Well at least she'll still be there when I attend a wedding in late June. I guess I'll buy two cases just to be safe

And that's the issue. She should have self distro'd. Her beers aren't a style I'd seek out, but they are done so well I would buy them all day if I saw them in my local bottle shop. Or, if I could have them shipped via parcel carrier I'd order them to. Maybe she should move to a state that allows drop shipping so she can reach the targeted segments across the country that like these styles since they aren't the haze bro hype styles and build out from there. I'd seek them out, just not driving hour round trip out of my way to grab beer on a frequent basis.

This would be tragic. At the same time if they got burbs distro they would move quickly

Well its official, I noticed on Averie's instagram that she confirmed in a comment that she is leaving Chicago and "heading to warmer pastures". Also, she promised to send her beers back to Chicago in the future, but given the lack of distribution now, I suspect that is not going to be any time soon.

Also, she is releasing The Art of Holding Space batch #3 today and she mentioned it will be the last batch for the foreseeable future. So stock up now ...

    Blind guess here, but:

    a) she had a great deal with Half Acre to brew out of their Lincoln Ave location, which isn't their location anymore.
    b) her delicate saisons collected dust while we gobbled up pastry garbage from breweries, like, oh, I don't know, the brewery taking over the Lincoln Ave location.

Please note: I bought 2 Keeping Together beers and about 5000 pastry garbage beers from Hop Butcher during her time here, so I'm pointing the finger directly at myself.

Plus Chicago weather sucks for about 6-7 months. Possibly heading back to Texas based on the cowboy emoji from her post? Yes, my contribution here is a wild-ass guess.

Yea, thats my guess, but its also 100% speculation.

I bought anywhere from 2-4 bottles of each release, but I did notice that they did not seem to move super fast ... Nice for me to get them when I wanted, but I doubt it was nice for her.

this news makes me sad - I, too, tried to get some of every release. Glad she was here for a while; wishing her luck and happiness in her next endeavor.

I will say, possible reason for slow movement - the large bottle format wasn’t great for solo consumption during the pandemic.

Kind of odd to come to Chicago and then say you are moving to warmer places as if you didn't know Chicago has bad winters. If you moved to Texas in 2020 and were like "wow, I had no idea it snowed and was freezing in Texas during the winter and the power grid couldn't handle it as a result I'm leaving" I would get that as no one predicted it, but a Chicago winter? We are famous for those. So I wonder if she just had a consulting deal with Half Acre for their sour program and in exchange got to brew her stuff and once the space went away HA didn't need her since they didn't want to risk introducing sour bacteria to the main production brewery. Is it as simple as that? Should have been plenty of time to find funding and set-up a space elsewhere as a tenant brewer. I thought her stuff was great, but as people mentioned, lack of distro and 2010 bottle formats kept my purchasing down from what I would have done had it been readily accessible outside of HA.

Maybe warmer pastures is just the desired output for the gazillion legit reasons people are leaving Chicago that we can choose from.

Who said she was leaving Chicago because she doesn't actually like the weather?

I mean it's obvious she knows where she's going, that it's warmer than Chicago, and doesn't yet want to divulge. It can't be that simple?

Only thing I'm sad about is it's not NE Ohio, because it can't possibly be.

Personally, I wouldn't move somewhere based on the previous historical climate after what we've seen the past two years. The Pacific Northwest has turned into Saharan Africa.

Or a gazillion person reasons that have nothing to do with anything outside of personal relationships, opportunity, desire for change, etc.

People move for many, many reasons.

I'd also have to imagine that there are cheaper places in the US to start a brewery than Chicago ... Its not like she will lack for customers when she does start brewing again - her reputation in the craft beer world is pretty well established.
