I have been drinking IPA’s along with other types of craft beer for over 8 years. Basically, I am constantly in search of a beer I have not ever had before, but I am reaching a point of where I am not getting to drink the beers I truly enjoy the most. I have come to realize that I really strongly favor good traditional IPAs, whether regular, DIPA, or Imperial. It seems to me many of the new beers I encounter are the New England style or some other hazy fruity IPA. Don’t get me wrong, I have found many of these beers to be quite good, but I really yearn the (what I refer to as a traditional IPA). I am now going back to drinking my old favorites whenever they are available as well as still sampling something new. I am seeking help in suggestions for quality tasting traditional IPAs. I recently encountered a new one called Dungeons and Flagons from Savanah River Brewing Company, which I found to be excellent. I fear that this beer will have limited availability, but who knows. Some of examples (and certainly not all encompassing) of the taste I prefer would be Dogfish Head 90; Bells Two Hearted Ale, Terrapin Hopesecutioner, are represenative examples of the style I am seeking.
I would be really be interested what are some of my fellow craft beer lovers would recommend to someone. I do not care if it is something old that I may have had already or something new to the market so I can expand my list of beers sampled. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Besides of being a help to me, I think this would be an interesting topic. Thanks in advance to all who can provide recommendations and any associated comments. Cheers and have a great day!

If you are a fan of Dogfish Head 90 (which is a DIPA) some IPAs which have a similar flavor profile would be Victory Hop Devil and Evolution Lot #3; these beers have a malty backbone which nicely compliments the hop aroma/flavors. You might also enjoy Evolution Lot #6 which is a DIPA.

As regards a ‘regular’ IPA I would suggest to you Fat Heads Head Hunter IPA and if you can find it very fresh Sierra Nevada Dankful IPA.

I am sure that other BAs will provide their suggestions here.

    Cheers!

It’s hard to make recommendations knowing you’ve probably had it all but I’ll give it a shot. Founders Centennial, Bells Hopsoultion, Shorts Space Rock, Old Nation 70+, Stone Delicious IPA, New Belgium Wild Ride, and Havoc from North Peak Brewing Co. Majority are Michigan beers with a wide distribution footprint. You should be able to find all of this not far from you should you notice something you haven’t had which I imagine is unlikely. Cheers.

Thanks so much. The Victory Hop Devil I had long ago and based on my rating really liked it. I believe that will be available in my area, and will get some again, so thank you for that.
The other beers you listed I have not sampled yet, so let the search begin.
    I really appreciate your input.
    Cheers

Do you have access to Blackberry Farms or Yazoo? If so, their IPAs are all old school/traditional and quite good

I have only seen Yazoo once and purchased their Hopry beer and loved it. I have not seen Blackberry Farms, so both breweries offerings are not common in my area, but I will be on the lookout.
Thanks so much for the recommendation and the reminder of the once seen Yazoo

I suggest that you check out this list of the American IPA style and pick the ones that are available to you. Unless one on this list is misclassified, these should fit your requirements.

Founders Centennial, which can usually be found fresh and is a good price for a 15 pack.

Others that I would include are Tröegs Perpetual IPA (one of my first favorites), Cigar City Jai Alai, and Sierra Nevada Torpedo.

If you can get Creature Comforts, hie thee to the bottle shop and pick up some Tropicália. You will not regret it, guaranteed.

Three of the four you listed I have tried, and I concur that they are worthy IPAs. The Troegs Perpeual IPA I am not familiar with but I will search for it.
    Thanks so much

I am a fan of Cigar City Jai Alai but only if I can find it extremely fresh (which is not too often). It has been my consistent experience that the aroma/flavor profile of this beer 'falls of a cliff' relatively quickly.

    Cheers!

Hop drop and Roll by NODA is truly excellent and Torpedo I assume the Sierra Nevada beer is off the charts.
The others you have listed I am not familiar with by will be making a strong effort to get them

Other than the Victory, the others I have come across yet. I will make a concerted effort, they seem to all be highly rated.
    Thank your for the recommendations.

Agree with Fat Heads. Also if Jackie Os distributes in your area, their offerings are very solid as well.
