What kind of interest would you have in obtaining recipes to beers that are defunct or were one-offs?
Depends on the beer. 2 years ago I attempted to clone Sierra Nevada's Glissade since I have a huge fondness of the beer in the spring time. Sad to report that my attempt at guessing, didn't end up close to theirs, not even in the slightest. I'd be interested in those recipes however!
Depends on the beer. Some I would have interest, others not - like Sierra Nevada's Tumbler, was such a great beer and is all but retired. Fortunately, one or another SN employee has an account here, and smoe time ago provided a recipe for it. There's a few others I wouldn't mind, but I have enough of my own recipes I'm working on to worry about clones right now.
In the past, many, now none except for uncle Jacobs stout from Avery Brewing. I attended GABF several years ago and the brewery. No luck in getting any concrete info so , like usual, run and gun brewing. Usually j get sorta close or not, but, uncle Jacobs is tough to figure out. I believe it's excellent taste/flavor is due to their barrel program and the best I can do is use my wood soaked in bourbon to get close,,,,,, but not really.
I emailed and received the recipe from SN for Tumbler not too long ago. I have made my own version a few times, and it was pretty close.
I don't do clone brews, so the answer is I have no interest. Not trying to be harsh, just offering one brewers perspective. Also, I never miss the mark with my brews. Clone brews need to be a bullseye to be satisfying I think. I'm happy if I hit the target. Cheers
I'd be interested out of pure curiosity and edification (am I using that word right?) But, if the follow on question is how much would you pay for them? my answer would be zero.
