What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3188

good morning ! a light work week get's me starting the day with this..... I noticed previous iterations of this brew had it labeled as an Imperial Pale Ale (without the 10% abv noted on it ) - - now it's 8.3% and apparently contract-brewed - - still good though.......

things ain't what they used to be....

 

Through the generosity of @colby600 I'm able to start my day with this . . .

Tree House Brewing Perfect Storm NEIPA

Hazy golden color with white cap and lacing.

Strong, deep hop aroma that strikes me as mostly herbal with a citrus backbone.

Taste is hop forward with an emphasis on the hops which further carry the herbal theme. Citrus is a little less apparent than in the nose. I don't detect much malt but the other flavors mentioned are clean, strong and well balanced. Finishes dry with a hint of hop bitterness in the aftertaste.

Full velvety texture with balancing carbonation.

Close to Nirvana for the NEIPA fan.

Thanks for opening the thread this morning @SawDog505. Like him, I am on vacation. Unlike him, my wife and I left the kids behind for a couple days.

Headed to the outlet mall to please Mrs. Jkblr, then to a brewery right outside Ashville. Many beers and brewery visits to come over the next two days. I hope the rest of the beers I have today are as good as this black IPA. Cheers all!

 

It has rained all morning long, so I slept in…coffee time - Dorian Espresso Stout by Scarlet Lane Brewing Company, McCordsville, IN:



No bottling date. Purchased last week at the Scarlet Grove Pizza and Public House on the south side of Indianapolis. Poured at 57°. A very tasty coffee stout; a bit thin, but otherwise perfect for a 6% eye-opener. Waiting for a break in the weather to venture out…Cheers from Mackinaw City, MI!

Got out at 6:30 this morning for a run to beat the heat and ripped out 8.25 miles.
Since I've been up for 8 hrs now AND it's my day off, it's time for my last can of Drekker. Fruity but not too tropical, tart orange and grpfrt, semi sweet and fairly boozy with a medium mouthfeel that is smooth and has a med fast finish. It is 8.5%ABV and it's there. A good and fresh tasting NEIPA for the most part.
4 to 4.1 is my big fat rating.

As I was posting this last night something came up that required my attention. I then posted this in the wrong forum and it got deleted. Not only that, but I wasn't able to finish the second half of the can. So this morning I'm having an only slightly deflated Modelo Mango/Chile Chelada. Over ripe mango, melon with a little heat from the chile. Hard to think of this as a beer and at 3.5% abv, after a few sips one kind of forgets it is. It takes on a pop personality, and as that, it's quite enjoyable.

 

This may have the same spots but it's a completely different animal. The mango and chile are greatly reduced. Piney, grassy with a little sweetness from the mango and heat from the chile at the finish. From Wild Acre Brewery in Fort Worth.

Having a day to do chores around the house and......
