Trade gone wrong!!

Did you receive a tracking # in both instances and if so, what does the website say about the lost boxes?

 

I'd think the timeline of "getting you back" is sort of up to you. Your trade partner hasn't come though on their end yet so it seems like whenever an opportunity to rectify the situation presented itself it would be on them to make it happen

 

“Due to UPS”, What does that actually mean in these two instances? Were the boxes damaged in transit, the opened and discovered alcohol, or disappeared off of radar? Like @TmKeisySC I’d like to know more about tracking info and why the boxes never made it.

As for the trader, if these are solid BA stouts that he might have extras of and or can obtain easily, then you can stick to the original trade agreement. Otherwise, you come up with something you agree will be sufficient to satisfy you off of the original agreed upon trade.

As for timeframe, it shouldn’t be open ended. They are still responsible for getting you a box, never heard of two from the same trader not making it. Hopefully the third time is a charm.

I know people love to hate the usps, but they’re 5x faster, cheaper, and don’t mess with my boxes no matter how heavy or sloshy.

 

Two random bad experiences, indicate the your trader messed up? Or he was extremely unlucky.

One important question, is the trade thru BA? Is the trader new or a veteran?

As far as how long to wait... I've waited a few months one time for a trader to make it right. I wasn't worried.

2 consecutive boxes confiscated? Has that ever happened to anyone else? By the second box I would have asked for my beer back. Even if this is just as simple as the other trader doesn't know how to pack a box so it doesn't break en route, no need to wait around for you to be heartbroken a third time. The only concern with getting your beer back would be if they didn't pack those right and then they broke in transit. Time to move on with your life and cut ties from this trade before it becomes a bad trader thread.

 

Just weighing in on the likelihood of two confiscated boxes -- I definitely don't think it's out of the question that it occurred and was sent in good faith, given that certain locales are far more "diligent" (to put it nicely) about finding beer. For instance, I went years without getting a box taken and then it happened twice at my local FedEx facility (with a third attempt that I managed to catch). That doesn't mean that FedEx should be avoided everywhere, but I don't like to have them used locally... this could be the same sort of issue.

Or, the trader could have packed poorly and that's why they're gone... or something more nefarious. I have no clue, just wanted to note that two taken boxes doesn't necessarily indicate that evil is afoot.

 

If the other trader is within driving range I would drive over and do the deal in person.

 

I only use UPS as I find the others incompetent. So to each his own.

 

I'm not entirely sure what there is to wait for. He needs to figure out how to pack a box safely if they aren't making it.
