In my opinion, any time of year is a good time for marzen style lagers! Bring 'em on!
73 and sunny and pleasant here in NE Ohio today....perfect

I have yet to see any "fall seasonals" in my area, but expect that to change shortly - we are only 10 days from August 1st

Yeah . . . cash flow is king. Like putting out Halloween stuff in Walmart after July 4th. Still . . . it sucks..

    Thanks!

    …albeit half full…

It tasted damn good on my porch even though it was about 80 degrees at night (or something like that).

But the pale style is better suited for warm weather.

As much as I love Marzens, I cant imbibe until at least Sept 1st. I love summer slightly more than I do Marzens!

Thanks for clarifying. I never check the main web page so had no idea. I have a few stashed away from last year but I'm a a bit seasonal-obsessive and prefer to drink them after Thanksgiving.

A pumpkin/oktoberfest hybrid. I usually think Devil's Backbone is pretty mediocre, including the last pumkin ale I bought from them. To my surprise, I really enjoyed this. Pumpkin is somewhat subtle and it has a very nice and smooth malt profile. Picked up a 12 pack for $17.99.

I am 100% with you here and that is why those beers packaged in March are not a 'worthy' purchase for me.

Every year I wonder why German breweries are producing and packaging beers intended for consumption in September/October so damn early. This just crazy in my opinion.

    Cheers!

Maybe traditionally consumed in Sep/Oct, but I have my doubts that it is the brewers intent for the consumers to wait.

I was going to wait until tomorrow but I got thirsty....

My impression.....these are different beers. Similar, but not the same. I did the tasting blind, and it matched up with what I tasted while having them both in the same day a few weeks ago (not side by side). I was able to correctly pick out Hacker Pschorr.

I felt the Hacker Pschorr was maltier in aroma and taste than the Paulaner. Paulaner felt slightly lighter in body with more lively carbonation. I like them both but prefer Hacker Pschorr.

Perhaps upcoming comparisons will include a threeway tasting with the Paulaner Wiesn, and a blind triangle with HP and Paulaner Märzen.

I do not have purview into what a German Brewing Company's Marketing & Sales folks "intend" but these beers are clogging up my local beer retailers shelves in September/October and I have to push them aside to reach the fresh Oktoberfest beers that I purchase instead.

From what I have seen on BA posts there always seems to be plenty of these old German brewed Oktoberfest beers left after the season that just get older at the Wholesale Distributors that they then try and foist on retailers for the following year.

    Cheers!

Haven't seen them, but haven't looked too hard either. Picked up some Bell's Oberon. I'm a teacher, last year sucked, this year will be interesting at best. Going to enjoy summer beers till September this year.

I'm the exact same way. Where I am, we have an end of summer/beginning of the fall season fair on Labor Day Weekend and usually after that I'm full fledged into fall/pumpkin beers! I love each season and want to experience them all in their fullness. However, Mid-august is when I brew my annual pumpkin ale and it's tradition that I'm sipping on Southern Tier's Harvest ale while doing so!

don't really give a shit that it is not Sept -Oct, I will drink this one anytime! Kind of tired of "summer beers" about now anyway - every year
