I thought they would be open by now. Are they completely razing the old Populuxe location and rebuilding?

I just did @BBThunderbolt by clicking the link, I saw info right before I got the "join wall." The useful info was applications to work at ballard location have a dealine of july 21. But I didn't see anything else useful, unless it was below I got booted for not being on IG.

I think they're located over there, and may some connection/history with the family that owns BB.

Ballard Skatepark or the Ballard ball field play ground? There is a big park with a ball field and play ground a block from Stoup and Urban Family.

Chuckanut bottles are all over, so no worries about that. In addition to Bottleworks and Chucks I'd recommend Ridgewood Bottle & Tap on Phinney Ridge.

As for food, Delancey for pizza just north of the downtown Ballard core, Joule in Fremont for an awesome Korean/French/NW meal and grab a sandwich at Un Bien not far from Delancey.

I live in Green Lake if you've got any questions about the area, so feel free to ask.

Ballard is crazy packed with breweries. Great Notion is across the street from Reubens, Fair Isle is around the corner from Reubens, and Lucky Envelope isn't far from Fair Isle. Stoup and Urban Family are directly across the street from each other. Obec isn't too far away, and then on the other side of 15th you've got Peddler, Cloudburst and Lagunitas. I know we like to shit on Lagunitas for their Heineken ownership, but the Ballard taproom brews a lot of Seattle-only beers including multiple fresh hops in the Fall.

On the way to Fremont from Ballard is Hales, which has really turned things around lately by bringing in the crew behind Schooner Exact. The old grandpa brewery is really trying hard to stay relevant.

Yonder is a little cidery from Greenwood that's run by one of the dudes who worked front of the house at Fremont Brewing for a long time. They had a little neighborhood garage bar that drew the fury of some North Seattle NIMBYs for a while.

Looks like it is a park near the ballard community center.

Awesome, sounds like I'm all set for bottle shop options, maybe you or someone else knows but is there one that has more singles to purchase than the other? Or do they all pretty much offer singles of all.

Thanks for the food recommendations, I'm just compiling a list of what you all say in my phone so I got quick access when were there.

I'll definitely as more as it gets closer or if I have other questions. Thanks @distantmantra

Sounds like my problem is just gonna be which places to choose, a good problem to have I guess. Thanks for the Lagunitas hint, especially knowing they may have some extra fresh hop options to try or take home. I'll be sure to ask fresh hop questions as it gets closer in that thread that shows up each year.

Unrelated addition...I think we've pinned down our hike to sunrise rim trail in Rainier, weather permitting. I know there are many hikes closer to but I have to see Rainier up close when were there, can't resist that opportunity.

I also had to see Rainier up close when I visited. I opted for Skyline loop.

Not sure how busy each entrance to the park gets, or how your time of the year will differ from mine, but the line to get into the park was about ~2-3 miles long when I was leaving the park at noon (on a Saturday, in July). I pulled straight into the park at 6:20am.

Snow pack was still a real concern. I wish I had packed a pair of microspikes. September may be getting back to those conditions.

Sunrise is the Yakima side, and you know what grows over in Yakima...

As for singles, most bottle shops sell singles now. They either did before the pandemic or the pandemic caused them to rethink their business model. If you strike out at a bottle shop, the local PCC Community Market stores have seriously stepped up their beer game and carry a nice selection of singles, plus they did a good job during fresh hop season last year. I'm slightly obsessed with fresh hops, btw.

Oh, the Ballard Community Center is away from the "Ballard brewery district" as you'll be in the heart of downtown Ballard, but you're pretty close to Cloudburst.

Great Divide Fresh Hop was one of my most memorable beer experiences way back when. Each year I look forward to the few we get out here, so I really can't wait to try some actual fresh ones from the brewery. I also attempted to brew a fresh hop beer once with a bunch of hops we picked locally. I'm obsessed but on the wrong coast, not this year! I'll have all the best intel from you all in the fresh hop thread, I've been told.

Yea I saw we were a little farther from the breweries but I don't mind the a long walk if needed, we may have a rental car for a day or two which will be nice.

Yea I'm hoping its not too late in the season for that hike to not work. We'll be going on a Thursday and early, again weather permitting, fingers crossed.

It's a glorious time during fresh hop season when 99% of all breweries around here make at least one if not more. Great Divide's is pretty lacking so I think you'll be in for a real treat.

Sadly (or not), I'll be in Portugal at the end of September for 9 days and miss out on a few, but I'll probably take a couple FH cans with me and spread the gospel of the fresh hop.

Just a Chicagoan checking in on his last day of a family vacation to the greater Seattle area.
Day 1: Fly into SEA-TAC and hit Fremont. Could have drunk the entire tap list but our rental house was in Stanwood and had a drive ahead of us.
Day 2: Explored Bellingham and hit Wander. Again, not a bad beer at the place.
Day 3: After a boat cruise to San Juan Isl., we had dinner at Boundary Bay. Food was very good, beer was good to very good.
Day 4 & 5: Too much hiking & driving in Cascades Nat’l Park to visit a brewery :pensive:. We had bought a lot of beer to go by this point, so wife & I made up for it at the house.
Day 6: Back to B-ham (I feel like a regular now) for lunch and a tipple at Stemma. They have a great Mex food truck and the beer was good to very good. Hit Garden Path Fermentation in Burlington on the way back to the house. That place is very chill and a must-stop for sour/wild beer lovers. *They are a 21+ place, but they have a system for allowing minors out in the garden.
We went to these places based mostly on the recommendations of @distantmantra and @BBThunderbolt in this thread.
Many thanks to you both. My family had a blast.

Question for the West coast advocates, my daughter is visiting friends in Seattle, in the upcoming weeks, any chance of her being able to find any ba Fremont stuff in bottle shops or is it all brewery, and not available? Looking for any ba barleywines, b bomb, ba dark star etc. Thanks for the help.

    Cheers

Could go either way, there might be some stuff floating around, or it might be all gone. I don't remember what the most recent release is, so whatever that is is probably the best shot. Places like Chuck's, Full Throttle, Beer Authority, Bottleworks, and Super Deli Mart are the best options. I have no clue about about what's available at the brewery, but, a quick look at the website uncovered this: https://www.fremontbrewing.com/12th-anniversary-stout

Something should be around. The PCC (local co-op grocery store) by my house in Green Lake still has one of the BA Fremont beers. Not sure which one.
