What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3202

Good morning BAs! I took yesterday off from alcohol as an overdue cleanse day. Thank you @RaulMondesi for getting us going this morning. First up is a Taproom Only release from Founders - Mothership Series, “Maple Barrel-Aged Frangelic Mountain Brown”:



Purchased at the Grand Rapids Taproom 7/15/21. Bottled 01/21/21. Poured at 56°.

Creamy, tight khaki head; very good cap retention; solid ring; sticky soapy lacing; ruby brown body with excellent clarity; thin legs at best. Nose is sweet maple syrup and roasted nuts; bourbon as beer warmed. Sweet maple sugar, caramel, nutty coffee and dark chocolate; coffee middle; bourbon on backend; nutty finish. Medium body; silky smooth tongue coating; moderate minus carbonation; no warmth from 11% abv; dryness in finish. Overall an awesome multilayered brown ale; plenty of roasted nuts swimming in caramel candy with a bourbon balls vibe, all of which are covered in sweet maple syrup; nevertheless, the maple is not heavy handed, and instead is complimentary of the whole; no hint of the alcohol - sweet (just right for my beer sweet tooth), yet dangerously easy drinking; the base elevated!

Today’s lunch beer comes courtesy of a gift from @GrumpyGas following our groups’ brewery tour at 3 Sheeps during #Screamfest - Goldfinger Brewing Company, Downers Grove, IL, “Vienna Lager”:



This beer is a world class Vienna Lager. Excellent clean yet rich malty caramel bready nose/taste; lovely spicy Saaz hops play a supporting role culminating in a balanced dry finish. Up there with Devil’s Backbone’s medal winning Vienna! Thanks Kevin, and Cheers!
