Buffalo Brewing (one of if not Buffalo's smallest brewery) is looking to expand and buy the old Schreiber Brewing building on the East Side. This is cool for historical reasons (Schreiber was a HUGE deal in Buffalo in the early 20th century) and because the city is really working to revitalize that part of town as it has others. Really cool old building, too, and I'm stoked to see what they can do with it.

Also, gonna be a place called Iron Island Brewing going not too far from there.

Love to see Buffalo keeping this momentum going.

Damn, that won't work. Hopefully they expand to Wednesdays or Sundays in the next month haha.

They'll need to produce a lot more beer before that happens!. But they said they're in some bottle shops and at the stadium now. N&L probably has them.

Place called Shepherd's Eye Brewing coming to Florida, NY this year. Florida is just outside Chester, so that could make for a nice loop with Rushing Duck, Tin Barn and Long Lot Farm.

Never many closings to report in NY and I'm apparently 11 months late on this one but IBU Brewing in Syracuse closed. From the article it looks like it closed because the owner had to financially take care of his older parents and raise two very young kids and it was just too much with also trying to run a brewery.

That's a bummer but hopefully he gets another crack at things down the road.

    Couple other nuggets:

    1) Progress at Rail II River in Ravena, taproom being put together now. Probably a fall opening there.

    2) Ghostfish Brewing (gluten-free brewery from Seattle) is opening a location in Chautauqua County.

    3) Long Island Farm Brewing opened last month in Manorville. Real gorgeous looking spot, looks like they've got 9-10 taps and cover a good variety of styles.

    4) Non-Sequiter in Brooklyn looks very close. Like an any-day-now situation.

Went there last week for the first time. Agree with your take...barely even recognize the place from the work they’ve done. Will visit again...and yes, on the pricey side for the area.

Got a place called DisBatch Brewing coming to Macedon, NY (north of Canandiagua, East of Rochester) this year.

Apparently the first in-house brewery in Wayne country (Twisted Rail and Lukenheimer have satellite locations there) which is pretty wild given how big and how close to Rochester it is. Location looks pretty big, but I don't really have any info beyond that.

It was nicer than Fox Farm. I truly could not oversell how gorgeous this place is. It's like a mile off the main highway and not near anything and you truly feel like you're somewhere in the Belgian countryside when you pull up. Tons of outdoor seating and inside its just stunning what they've done with the building. And the quality of the beers match it. I will be going here each and every time I'm in the Finger Lakes.

More coming out of the Finger Lakes. Spot called Strange Design (per the owners it is a Phish reference, for people into such things) shooting for late summer for to-go sales and early fall for on-premise drinking.

The building is an old dorm for what was once the Livingston County Poor House, and it looks like they've done a killer job of repurposing. The building on the left here is gonna house the brewery:

Pics of what it looks like now are in the Rochester D&C but it's paywall'd.

You can view them (for free!) by doing a Google Image search. I'd post here but "Images may be subject to copyright" and my lawyer's on vacation.

Another new one coming to Rochester. Nine Spot Brewing slated to open next spring in what used to be a car dealership right on Monroe Ave. Easy 5-minute walk to either Roc or Strangebird from there.

Almost no further info here but there's a place called Rivertrail Beerworks in the works right in town in Saranac Lake.

I'm just looking at this thread for the first time. @IGaveYouPower deserves a medal.

That is all I have to add.

My best friend lives in that area. I was already jealous that he can walk to IA if he wanted to. Now he has options.

Meier's Creek is opening a satellite location (a la Threes outpost) in the "inner harbor area" of Syracuse. I don't know what that means. Syracuse doesn't have a Baltimore-esque harbor area because Onondaga Lake isn't exactly pristine water.

MC makes quality shit though so if the location is a good one they'll do well.

Edit: LOL, the 'inner harbor' is on a big creek that feeds the lake and they just put a big new mixed-use apartment building there so its taking one of the tenant spots on the ground floor.

Close to Buried Acorn tho which is great.

Listen, @IGaveYouPower puts his pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us.

But—once his pants are on—he gives us the scoop on danged brewery in the state.

I hope they have some long term plans that will allow them to shed this location - it's not ideal. Streetside parking and that RR Avenue Light on 9W is infamously congested. (Industrial Arts is on the other side up the hill) And, of course, there's the issue of vibration and noise from the railroad. It only runs freight - long trains that are super noisy. Maybe some people will like that experience, idk.

    Humble beginnings!

As somebody that literally used to live across the street from train tracks, they'll be fine. You won't feel any vibrations from that far away and honestly the noise isn't anywhere near as jarring as one might think.
