See if someone will proxy Answer crowlers for you when released on Thursday and possibly meet you at TC Fulton.

FWIW, both locations are kiddo friendly. The Answer is indoor board games, TC is outside run around.

    Mekong has great food btw.

Stay at The Embassy Suites by Hilton in Richmond right by The Answer and Veil - both are within 4 miles or so - right down the road form the hotel. And the hotel stay includes breakfast in the morning - great buffet and omelet station!!! Also has a Sheetz right next door to gas up and get ready to go in the morning as well.

They are all worthy in their separate ways. But with a kid in tow, The Veil and The Answer are fairly close to both The Children's Museum of Richmond and The Science Museum of Virginia which are a worthwhile visit. Just saying.

My trip is finally on the horizon, will be in Richmond on 8/13, which is a Friday.

So I see The Answer only has Joose crowlers on Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday, which kinda sucks. I guess there's no way to buy online and pick up on Friday? Normally the neon fruitiness isn't really my thing, but when in Rome and whatnot.

No, they are only available on those days. Maybe someone local could proxy/grab a few the day before, if you really want some.
Though honestly imo, do a flight or two and then you'll realize you probably don't want 32oz of Joose at once. A few small servings is the right amount of Joose.

Exactly, they will on tap, so you can try. Save the Crowlers for the good stuff! (the over the top stouts! :grinning: )

    Fair enough.

On another note - Why on Earth does The Veil have a $60 500ml stout for sale?

C/P fom Veil but it's a charity bottle.

"Quy (batch 3) is an Imperial Stout brewed in loving memory of our friend Quy Phuoc Pham. Quy was a pillar of the Richmond beer community and we honor him every year with his own special blended barrel-aged Imperial Stout. This years version is a blend of 26-month-old double barrel-aged Imperial Stout, 22-month-old bourbon Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout, and 23-month-old South American Imperial Stout conditioned on raw coconut, coconut cream, maple syrup, marshmallow, and honey. 100% of the proceeds go directly to Quy’s family - his wife Suong and his two children My and Vy."

Ahh, okay. That makes more sense. Thanks for the info. I didn't see the charity part and though they had lost their minds.

@Preluderl if you do end up getting by Veil and want to be sure to snag new can/bottle releases for the week as well as anything else leftover from past weeks you can place an order online Tuesday at 8am when the new stuff goes up on the site for pickup when you're in town. They will hold your order for up to 6 days and you just schedule what day / time you'll come through though. If you are earlier/later than you're scheduled time that's usually not a problem

Triple Crossing will hold online orders for up to 48 hours so you could order Wed/Thurs and pickup when you're coming through if it's something you don't want to miss out on.

Agree with @montman and @VABA on the Joose. No need for $20 Crowlers of heavily fruited, often thick, "beers". Just go in for a $12 flight where you can pick any 4 beers they have. I usually go with a couple Stouts, a Joose and an IPA before wrapping it up with a full pour and some food.

    Have a great trip!

Uh...The Veil makes fruit smoothies, cocktail inspired beers, dessert beers, and hazy IPAs. All of those have wide appeal. I don't think they're for beer nerds. The Veil was on The Bachelor. It's the place where people who want to be seen go.

Beer nerds go to Ardent. They go to Triple Crossing. They ignore the noise.

Lol. Or maybe most beer nerds just go to both TC & Veil and aren’t so binary.

Having the knowledge of all of these places implies some level of nerdery, right?

I fully embrace nerdery at every level.

TBH I kind of chose The Answer and The Veil because, at this point in the summer, I'm always entering into my "tired of hops" portion of the program. If I had been looking to load up on IPA then I'd definitely try harder to get Triple Crossing into the mix.

As an aside, food recs in the area? HUGE factor - We will have a six year old in the mix who definitely isn't eating Vietnamese, unfortunately.

TBH, The Answer’s menu is not really Vietnamese. If you go to Mekon next door, then you’ll be in a Viatnamese restaurant. I think your six year old will have fun at The Answer, they have a few different games, futbol, pinballs, etc. and a bunch of large TVs showing sports. Their menu is heavily geared towards Burgers, but they also have have Fish-n-Chips. Look at their menu, pretty safe, but I could be wrong. Cheers!

Yeah when I mentioned my son I was thinking about Mekong. I would love to go there, but yeah he won't be having it.

The Answer does have one great Vietnamese Tofu dish, which I always order!
