    It's a good point that if you are citing your source, you're not stealing IP. I am not an IP lawyer, so where the line begins to blur when it comes to profiting from that source is unclear to me; what I can tell you is that how Fair Use is applied differs vastly across different mediums. Ask any YouTube music educators about how Fair Use tends to be applied for them, as opposed to how more traditional educators (e.g. schools) see it applied.

    (Spoilers: record labels, and even some artists, are quite litigious, whether or not the facts of the law are on their side. Significant financial resources have been known, from time to time, to influence the outcome of a civil arrangement. :wink: )

    As for BA in this context, I do wonder if it crosses the line. They aren't educating the public; they are using the BA rating, and individual reviews, to specifically sell a product - to use others' work to make money. That might - and I say might, because again: I deliver sandwiches, not adjudicate IP cases - cross the line. But me personally? If they're citing the source, I don't have a problem with it.

    Total Wine blows. 99% of their beer sits on warm shelves and from my experience, most of it is old (like 6+ months). Anyone who claims to 'Respect Beer' should not shop at TW (for beer at least).

    We had a Total Wine open up in our town recently (still giving out the free pint glasses!) and I noticed the BA ratings and such. Can't speak to what their selection will look like in 6 months, but I did speak to their beer person (at least one of them) and pointed out that some people come in specifically looking for what's 'new'. (Not necessarily a new product, but newly stocked) He thought that was a great idea. Hopefully he is able to follow through. I see it would be helpful in multiple ways.

    I always look for the shelf labels at Total Wine that include BA comments/ratings. It saves me from having to fight with the lousy signal strength on my cell phone in the store to look it up on BA myself while i try to select among the many offerings. I agree...Total Wine is where I learned about BA.
