I agree with @William_Navidson when he said you should ask for your original box back. He shouldn't have drank the beers you sent him till you received yours.

Going back a couple years now but this happened to me. The same 'layover' location in PA caused me to switch shippers. I try to make sure my boxes are as safe as possible and the second box was definitely bomb proof.

The same carrier that I had problems with has a driver (my own suspicion) that takes boxes. Multiple boxes disappeared and one was "delivered" with no box ever being dropped off at my house. I ask trade partners not to use that carrier for this reason.

Within the past month I had a box from Beverage Factory opened, internal boxes opened, bubble wrap discarded, items just thrown back into the box, retaped and delivered. Nothing was missing but someone clearly rummaged through the box. I may be wrong but I'm saying that same driver still works there

Ask that your partner uses a different carrier if you choose to have him send another box

I offer to send you a box to help you recoup your losses from the trade and I know I won't be the last. Theres a ton of great and generous BAs around here. It's no DB Assassin but it might help to take the curse off

Up to you, obviously, but: to clarify, my suggestion was to put into place both (1) and (2). Have him ship the beers, agree on a sum ahead of time if it doesn’t make it.

Can you give a list of the beers you were expecting? I may not have the exact bottles but maybe something close.

    @BEER88
Can you post what you sent , what you traded for and how long ago did you first initiated the trade? Also why would you wait another month to sort things out? I know people have lives however if they had time to start a trade they have time to finish one. At this point get your stuff back, use a different shipper and make sure he packages it up the same way you sent it. Be done with it and move on and keep trading.

Then you need to request to open a Bad Traders thread and name names. That way the rest of us can be warned.

To be fair, if the other trader did make good on a box that satisfies OP then I don't think we have a bad trader situation. OP already said they intend to not leave positive feedback so there will be a record on the trader in question's account

    Things like this:

    And this:

make it sound like @BEER88 is having a bad experience.

There are a lot of old timers/experienced people commenting in here giving this as of yet unnamed trader A LOT of leeway. Get a Bad Trader thread going, call out the offender, and make him tell us what’s going on or ban him. It’s not an uncommon practice.

If @BEER88 is not going to leave positive feedback, then it was a bad trade and a bad trader.

There’s also the issue of feedback/open trade. This could all go away if it lingers long enough.

Not sure if this runs the risk yet since we don’t know the timing of the trade, but this is an open trade with no feedback yet from either trader so bullet point one comes into play at only 60 days.

@BEER88 what’s the latest? Any further conversation regarding getting your box back, or did they already start drinking the bottles, other possible steps to resolve this? I think you’re being generous letting this go another month especially with my point above related to the first bullet point below.

    Open Trades
    • After 60 days, open trades are purged if they haven't received feedback from either user.
    Open Trades (Partial Feedback)
    • After 180 days, open trades with partial feedback are closed.

Well it sounds like they have stayed in contact with OP and made their intention to make it right. This thread isn't even two weeks old and if you're looking for limited bottles that need to be replaced there has to be some understanding that it can't necessarily happen over night. @MattOC makes a good point about their being a timeline in play due to the feedback system.
My understanding is that you can have a bad trading experience with someone without that someone being a bad trader. Assuming that the other trader finds a solution that is acceptable to OP and gets it taken care of they wouldn't be a bad trader. That's my understanding anyway. Hopefully they go above and beyond and destroy OPs porch in an attempt to make it right.

I’ve been following this thread since it started and thought I’d chime in. I think the fact that the OP did receive tracking numbers for both boxes that were actually in route before disappearing (not just label created) should buy the other trader some grace here. It’s 100% on him to make it right but this could just as easily be a rouge driver than boxes that weren’t packaged correctly, especially since OP said the guy was an experienced trader here.

Hope everything gets worked out soon!

I didn’t want my box back and was promised something in return so there isn’t anything new as of yet! It is sad because this will be my last trade due to this trade :slight_frown:

I’m definitely not going to write a good trade feedback because I haven’t gotten anything and i spent quite a bit on this to not only NOT get bottles for vacation but nit get anything as of yet!

@BEER88 I believe it's time to name the trader so we can get this resolved to your satisfaction.

I was being generous and open to letting my only Floodland bottles go for some good J-Wake BA stouts in return. I also threw in some other rare stouts and some Great Notion fruited sour cans plus others.

@BEER88 is the other trader giving you specific options for what he can include in your replacement box, or is he just making the call himself? If the latter, my advice would be to ask him for money instead of having him send a box. You sound like you're not very hopeful about what you'd get in this box, and the other trader apparently isn't forthcoming about what he'll send, so I would just forgo a replacement box altogether.

If his trading partner is an established trader and has been on this site awhile, I’d think he’d actually want the opportunity to elaborate if it truly were bad luck. There are always 2 sides to a story and I’ve seen enough of these to learn to never judge until all the facts are presented by both sides. I’m rooting for a positive outcome where the other trader just needed some time to acquire bottles equal or greater to the original trade.

Everything @BEER88 is true. He has been nothing but kind and patient through this entire ordeal, and it really breaks my heart that he's had to go through this. Keep in mind, that this has also been financially and emotionally draining for me as well.

The first box I sent to him was sent in a bottle shipper. I was completely astounded that it broke because I didn't even think that was possible. By begging my best friend, I was able to get duplicates of everything in the first box. This time I sent him a box that was, in my opinion, nuke proof. The box had three inches of insulation to the beer in every direction with like an inch of bubble wrap on each bottle. Somehow, this box did not make it either according to UPS. In my entire history of using UPS, I've never had a box not get delivered. I think my last leakage was in like 2018 (cap came loose or something but bottle was intact), and the box was still delivered.

I offered to pay BEER88 whatever he thought was a fair price for what he sent. I did not really want to send back the beer because the recent events made me traumatised to ship, but I offered to do that as well if he preferred to which he declined. During this entire time, I still had and have not drank a single beer he sent so the option is still on the table if he ever changes his mind. He was very understanding and told me just to send a box of BA stouts over whenever I get the chance. Now I've been trying to acquire a collection of BA stouts similar in trade value to the original box, but there just haven't been any big releases in FL since the mishap.

I've traded with a couple of other people in this thread, and I hope the positive experiences I've had with them will lend some credibility to my situation. Once again, I can't express enough how kind and understanding BEER88 has been through this entire fiasco. I am doing everything I can to make this right and just ask for some patience as I try to acquire bottles that will leave BEER88 feeling at least somewhat okay about the trade.

Really unfortunate scenario. Again, I understand why people earlier in the thread thought this seemed suspicious... but personally I'm inclined to give @Freezing_Balls the benefit of the doubt here and hope he's able to make it right with a good box that'll make up for the lost packages and general inconvenience (and it makes sense that it might take a little to acquire replacements -- big releases don't grow on trees, everywhere).

Obviously, @Freezing_Balls will want to ship not using UPS and if @BEER88 wants to keep on trading I'd highly recommend he caution people against using UPS when shipping to him (as I do with FedEx for myself).
