Going to the Black Crowes show Saturday at Hollywood Casing Amp. Looking for a good brewery with food or good restaurant or pub with good beer selection. Any suggestions? Thanks!
The Open Bottle - no food but plenty of close options. Nice tap list and to go selection. Hailstorm - brew and food Brothership - My favorite brewery at the moment. Crafted 1979 - similar to the open bottle.
350 Brewing and Soundgrowler have great food, and beer too. I have not had food at Hailstorm, yet, but of those three, I prefer Hailstorm beer.
Go have a couple at Open Bottle then grab an Italian Beef or something from Fratello's Deli right next door in the same strip. Then go have a couple more at Open Bottle or 350 across the street. It's like five minutes from the venue.
I usually do 350 and the open bottle before shows in Tinley Park. And they’re right across the street from each other so that helps.
If you are a fan of more hazy styles, then Hailstorm and Brothership are for you. Never eaten at either of them, so no comment. Soundgrowler has really good tacos, burritos and such, and I've never had a bad plate there. And, personally, I prefer their beer over Hailstorm or Brothership, but I'm residing in a no-Haze zone. Strict enforcement. The HOA will come down hard on me if I'm caught with a less than translucent beverage. Strict, but fair. Open Bottle is an excellent one stop shop for a wide variety of really good beers for carry out, with a limited 8 tap bar, but it's small (so sometimes you can't get a seat), and pricey. That said, I love it. They often have something on tap that you'll not see elsewhere. I wouldn't waste my time going to Crafted - doesn't compare to Open Bottle, and is more expensive to boot, and is basically the same thing. $0.02
Arrowhead Ales in New Lenox isn't that far and has great food, and some solid beers. Only about a 20 minute ride or so.
I'm a Hailstorm fan though their food seems like kind of an afterthought. 350 has good food but their beer is just OK IMO. Sounds like I need to try Brothership.
Is this what the World Music Theater is called now? As if it wasn't clear already, Open Bottle for sure. Soundgrowler, Hailstorm, Brothership are good calls too. Tribes Ale House isn't too far from all these places, and at least when I went a few years ago, had decent food and tap list. If for some reason you are into disc golf, The Oaks in Mokena is an amazing course.
I wish they kept the Tribes on 30 and Wolf open. I could walk through my neighbor's yard to get there.
I will mention it there, but the Tribes Alehouse in Mokena, IL. is within staggering distance from the Rock Island District station. Plus, if you read the fine print on your Metra train ticket, you could stop over in Mokena and board a following train to Joliet on the same trip, which is now discounted 50% to everybody as a 'pilot project' by Cook County and Metra. Thus, you could go to Tribes, Elder, & Mygrain breweries on the same day. Not just on the weekend.
