Still no paulaner festbier here, hopefully that changes soon. Their beer finder has it all over philly area though, so I guess that is a good sign.

In other news it appears we got screwed with paulaner's marzen, I think I read it's available year round from someone. Well our distributor shafted us cause the "just in" marzen is best buy 10.21, oh well. I guess this is one import I will not be able to purchase this year. Last year it was a late spring bottling, this year we get a previous fall's beer, lovely! I should clarify, this was one store, but it was definitely "new" as it wasn't there last week. Hopefully this isn't the case at all local stores.

I get where you're coming from, but I used to hang out at a lot of German bars in my heydays, and they still had trouble now and again.

Your spot may have fresh stuff, but what was on that line previously? And... doesn't your joint have an Irish name?
See, "ripping through" sounds an awful lot like guzzling. I like to savor mine -- focus.

Just got back from picking up 2 sixers of Weihenstephaner Festbier and a six of the Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest.

That's supremely unfortunate, the märzen from Paulaner is year-round down here and they've been consistently re-stocking over the summer. Kind of shocked it wouldn't be carried year round in most spots with how popular it seems to be.

Still waiting on Ayinger down here but sounds like it's close. This seems like the week that dam is finally breaking for a lot of regional Oktoberfests.

It's all about perception. Most areas can't sell seasonals off-season so distributors won't keep them in-house.

Funny thing is, I don't think you can find Oktoberfest beers for sale in Germany year-round.

The Paulaner Fest and Marzen are in stock at Total Wine in Claymont. I was disappointed the Marzen was not available in the 12 pack format but the Festbier was.

Funny, I saw the opposite last year -- until the end of the season and then Festbier 12-packs popped up all over.

I still have not seen one Oktoberfest beer locally. So when "they" do show up, i will be looking for dates, if I can find them. I've had many and I will not buy any that are past, what I consider their best by date. Looking at the imports in particular but domestic are not exempt.

Ha yeah they do, but they certainly don’t have an Irish theme. If anything it’s a German theme, they have a couple German plates as fixtures on the menu now.

But they’re really just a craft beer bar/gastropub with a focus on imports. One of the few places I ever see Fuller’s on tap anymore. They also opened a sister restaurant close by which also had Oktoberfests in the fall last year. Times are good!

Oh, and how could I forget that they always have two taps dedicated to Weihenstephan Original and Rothaus Pilsner.

Ha, well how else are you going to get through them all!

I do have to say it’s nice to have them bottled/canned in August and then transfer to having the imports on tap in September for comparison.

Have waited until September before. It’s a special treat having that first Oktoberfest to coincide with first weekend of college football. I now have young children and alcohol is one of my harbors of sanity. I drink beer when I find it.

New SN Okto found locally. 12-packs canned 07-07-21.

Saw 6-pack cans, too, but didn't check the dates.

    $10 per six, $14 per 12.

I'm running into a lot of pumpkin beer display stacks at various stores right now. I had to put this video in here:

Have you tried Masthead’s? I thought it was much better than Fat Head’s when I had them on consecutive days this week.

I do the exact same thing!! I'll have all the summer beers however once it's September/Labor Day weekend, then it's all things fall from there on out. I also try to wait till November 1st to crack my first Celebration Ale of the season.

Ever since this thread started, I was checking on a close-by supermarket that stocks a lot of seasonal beers. They had nothing in late July when I went out of town for two weeks. I checked back yesterday, and the stock is filling up quickly: several pumpkin beers, as well as a bunch of domestic and imported Oktoberfests. I didn't need to get anything but ended up with a bottle of Ayinger brewed in April 2021. It tastes as good as I remember from last year.

Fall beers in full swing. I live in a beer wasteland and have had pumpking, warlock, and O Fallon vanilla pumpkin, also lots of Oktoberfests in town.

It's 90 degrees just about everyday this week. So I buy and put in the cellar until late September.

Man there’s nothing like fall beer season. They all come way too early (that’s what she said), but it is a fun way to start getting excited for the season, cooler temps, changing leaves, meaningful football. I love loading up on a variety of Germans and domestics, and some harvest ales thrown in as well, then sprinkling them into my weekly drinking regimen as autumn truly comes to pass.
