Nice idea for a thread. For someone who probably knows who Joey Sindelar is, a multiple winner here in Greensboro, and a very gracious man, cheers to your old locale and good luck out west! Here we are based in old style brewing and I'll move away only when I die. English type ales, ambers, and a good array of darker brews are locals that I cherish.

Don't apologize! This was a great response. Very thorough. I'm sure there are lots of things to miss in Phoenix, but Asheville is a beer mecca and the entire east coast has a pretty good beer scene these days.

We've learned the fine art of green chile stew and know New Mexico, Arizona, and the west in general very well. I remember being in Yuma at midnight hosing down Argus, my favorite old Golden pal... It was about 100 degrees and I was heading hard for other parts of the south, like Houston at that point. Westwego was a charm by comparison.

Leaving Atlanta 12 years ago, it was Sweetwater and Terrapin. So, it was big news to me when Sweetwater started distributing in NY like 3 years ago. They actually crept into NJ about a year before that, and I made sure to grab some. Now if they'd only bring back Motor Boat.

Moved from Central CT to NC 2 years ago.

miss NEBCO and Tree House (though it sounds as though that remains a shit show to visit).

    basically gained Bond Brothers.

Better scene in Asheville but that’s a 4-5 hour drive from me.

Moved from CA to the East Coast (first NY, then PA) almost three years ago exactly. Above all, I miss Russian River, although I have various methods of obtaining when really need be. Wish Firestone BA stuff was easier to find here. Best pick-up here is Tired Hands, but I’d give it all up for a steady supply of fresh Pliny.

I have lived within the same 50 mile radius for my entire life for the most part. If I had to move I would miss TRVE, Bierestadt, Cerebral, LA Cumbre, Odd 13. Conversely I have traveled over the US and the only place I have EVER considered moving to was Olympia WA. As much as I would miss the breweries I know and love, in the brief time I was there I quickly learned that I would have problem finding new favorites. @BBThunderbolt and @sharpski know what I'm sayin...

Been here for 20 years, but I used to travel to Wisconsin pretty regularly for a previous job. The people up there have the biggest one IMO - New Glarus. There's nothing like 'em anywhere else and they don't leave the state.

This is a long big state with all kinds of nice places to learn about. The history is deep, varied and surprising. Eastern North Carolina and Western North Carolina could easily be two different states. The British cemetery on Ocracoke Island, where Captain Maynard of The Royal Navy killed Blackbeard is really cool, with The Union Jack flying. It is well tended.

For the first few years following a move from Western WA to Central OR, I missed several of my WA favorites (Fremont, Georgetown, Reubens, Bale Breaker) even though I didn’t exactly move to a beer desert. Those breweries grew and were able to expand distribution, and my town grew and became a more attractive market for distribution, so it all worked out.

Another vote for New Glarus. I moved from Wisco almost 20 years ago and still miss their brews. They were my foundation for understanding what we have come to call craft beer. Not gonna lie, there are times I've booked a flight home just so I could pick some up (don't tell Mom & Dad that!).

Thanks for sharing! I enjoy history and this provides a nice glimmer of some of the Outer Banks past. Hopefully Da Boss and i will be able to pay a future visit! Cheers, Tom

Moving from NOLA to Chicago I gained a lot but I miss Parish (Ghost in the Machine, etc) and some some local spots I loved. And dang, I miss the food in NOLA, especially crawfish season

Totally forgot about Parish as we had a drop in Phoenix every so often dating back to 2019. Ghost is an excellent beer and i thought Attacus Atlas and Reve were very good!

Well, when I moved out of the Southern Tier of New York State, I was sad to no longer able to get Fred Koch's beers. About a year later, no one else could get them either - brewery closed and the brands purchased by Genesee.

I probably wouldn't miss any, I'd have more exploring to do.

I recently moved away from Chicagoland after 5 years there, and I already miss the relatively easy access to New Glarus.

That said, I can get my favorite Chicago area breweries' stuff here in Cincinnati, so the only experience I miss for them is their tap rooms. Which have been supplanted by not terribly long distances to the taprooms for Wolf's Ridge and Jackie O's.

Jack's Abby and NEBCO for me. I could go for a sixer of Sea Hag.
