I just read that Tributary will be distributing their Pale Ale to Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

I ran up the other day to pick up my fall and spring Mott reservations. Just hadn't gotten up for a while. I did pick up a few others to go. Didn't get a chance to sit down for one, since I had the wife and (more importantly / less patiently) the 6-year-old kiddo with me.
But we made an afternoon out of it, spending soe time at the old fort on the water, then hitting When Pigs Fly for dinner. Tasty as always, and I passed up Substance for an Oxbow Brewing Farmhouse ale. Really good one, and I've had plenty of Substance.
Hoping the fall 21 Mott release is back to the lineup and having it on draft (or spring 22, at the latest.) That's always a great time and far less hectic than the Kate releases. I think I went to 3 or those, got some twice, then the third was the last one where they said they'd be releasing tickets (calendar days) at like 6AM, but ended up doing it at 2.
Then I went back a couple times for the lottery / scratch off tickets, and I ended up with some once. But had a great meal regardless.

Great read @mrmattosgood. Tributary is one of those places that is so comfortably and steadily awesome that somehow it can be underappreciated.

I chose Chauncey Creek for my Thursday family adventure this week (wife is a teacher. Gotta take advantage) and I did so mostly so I can stop in at Trib.

(Chauncey Creek is still BYOB I assume)

One of my favorite spots when I used to live in Portsmouth. I miss it. From their website:

"WE ARE A BYOB ESTABLISHMENT. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING ANY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND ANY FOOD OR DRINK THAT IS NOT SOLD HERE.

WE RECOMMEND PAIRING A BOTTLE OF WINE WITH OUR FRESH LOBSTER AND SHELLFISH, OR PAYING A VISIT TO OUR FRIENDS DOWN THE STREET AT TRIBUTARY BREWING COMPANY TO PICK UP A GROWLER OF THEIR HAND CRAFTED BEER TO BRING WITH YOU."

    Enjoy!

We never went up to Trib/Chauncey (rain), but thinking there may be an opportunity to go this Thursday (when it also might rain). Czech pils and Blueberry new to the list. Stoked to visit again.

Also, for those who care: The Tributary profile I wrote was nominated for Best Brewery Profile in the annual North American Guild of Beer Writers contest. Thanks for reading!!

    Per Instagram:

Mott the Lesser Release is back under the Tent!

Tributary Brewing Company is pleased to announce that it will have an event October 23 to release Fall 2021 Mott the Lesser. It’s been 2 years since our last release was open to the public.

Customers will be able to purchase bottles, limited to 2 per person, directly and enjoy up to 2 pours per person the day of the event. Due to the pandemic and the spread of the Delta variant of Covid, customers will be required to show ID that matches Proof of Vaccination (card or photograph), or proof of a negative Covid test within 48 hours before 12:00 Noon, October 23rd.

The event will be under the tent and mostly outdoors, so please dress appropriately. Hours of operation for the day of the event are 12:00 Noon – 7:00 PM. Dogs will not be permitted that day. Our regular hours of operation will resume Sunday, October 24th 12:00 Noon – 5:00 PM. More details about food etc. will be forthcoming in the coming week. Bottles will not be sold online, and it will be first come first serve. You must be present to purchase bottles.

Our Fall 2021 blend includes our favorite Port and Madeira barrels, and are accompanied by Highland Scotch Whiskey and Jamaican Rum. While the aroma of spirits and fortified wine are present, this edition of Mott the Lesser exudes a complexity of flavors: almonds, espresso, even Florentine cookies; and boasts notes of plum and fig. The oak tannins balance the palate with a hint of vanilla.

I've gotta be honest that I'm bummed there's no online sales. I knew the date of this a little while ago and should have earmarked it on the calendar, but with three kids this might be tough. Either way, I'm so happy this is back in person. I hope people really show out for this, but not too many. I'm thinking my best shot of going would be for Sunday!

Was also really hoping for online sales. I'll be getting veterans day off and was planning a trip up that way. Hopefully some survives on top for a few weeks, still haven't been able to try it!

Double-ditto. I don't think he's going to sell out the first day any more but I still hate driving the two hours out to the coast with no guarantee there'll be bottles when I get there.

TBH, I was really enjoying the whole pandemic thing of just rolling in on a random weekday when there was nobody around.

Same. Up that way frequently enough from Boston that preordering and picking it up at some point was a no brainer, but getting there on a specific weekend is still tough. I'm sure that this is better for them, though - the couple times I was able to make the actual releases before were all pretty big events and that's gotta be great for business.

Usually the bottles do sell out that weekend. They do release kegs now and then through the year, though it's not announced ahead of time.

I'm thinking about going up - I think this is the 11th release? I've been there for 6 or 7 of them, and ordered online the past 3. I'd have to check my cellar to see for sure - I have at least one of most left. a couple I have both bottles. |IT's a good time at the brewery, and times for the friends I go with to catch up. Plus the food around the area is great - we hit lunch afterwards. When Pigs Fly, Anju Noodle bar...and more breweries around Kittery and Portsmouth.

I had five releases worth of MtL's. Brought them to an annual get together with friends and did a whole tasting thing this summer. It was a blast. But that destroyed my stash. I've got one of the Spring 2021, but that's it. It's time to start building again if I can make it up. As someone who spent the weekend on Long Island playing golf with friends, drinking at breweries, and eating steak, I need to log some serious dad hours this weekend though. Think my 7-year-old could get a two-bottle allocation, too?

Had an 8 oz. pour of Fall 2021 MtL for lunch. Delicious.

Brought home the Muenster Altbier and the Brave Noise Pale Ale. Plan on cracking one of each, likely, for the Patriots game.
