At least 300 people have posted about it at Untappd, so I was surprised it was not yet listed here. Smog City describes it as a "tart fruited ale." That style was not listed on BA's pull-down menu, so I (an uneducated, inexperienced beer drinker) chose "fruit and field beer." If that is incorrect, hopefully someone knows the correct style and can change it. Smog City said it was "designed for warm-weather drinking," so I assumed it's a seasonal beer.

I liked it enough to consider buying another before it disappears.

Surprised Moonraker Original Oil isnt on here as well. Maybe its just not popular despite a bunch of untappd reviews

Sounds like a good enough description to me.

Maybe it just isn't widely enough distributed to get much notice.

Maybe could have gone in the Fruited Kettle Sour style as well, but what you did is just as good IMO. I would argue some of these types are more generic fruit beers than anything that should be labeled "sour" anyway. Also, I'm noticing more and more American "craft" breweries aren't really making traditionally year round or seasonal offerings, and just make them whenever, so unless you know for a fact one way or another my default when adding a beer is rotating. Which now, the availability is just lumped together as Rotating/Seasonal. So that should be fine as well IMO.

All beers on BA are added by users like you! If you come across one that hasn't been added, I would encourage you to add it on BA. If you want to check out the general guidelines for adding beers this page is a great reference:

Also, @DogbiteWilliams if you have questions about a beer style classification, feel free to add it and put it in the style you think is best, and then submit a report on the beer asking the Moderator team to double check the style listing. In this particular case, fruit and field makes a ton of sense, but with the recent addition of the fruited kettle sour style on BA, it would probably be best under that one.

I'm not. Untappd has more users (and an app) and then there's Untappd for Business. Smog is a client and most likely added the beer themselves.

(This is one example of the many pros for creating a unified beer database across all Next Glass platforms. Something that I've been pushing for.)

Nah, there's so much garbage on UTs list. The same beer being entered multiple times is the big thing. I regularly see the same beer with slightly different spellings/details listed. At least here it's easy enough to point out a duplicate to the mods.

What @Todd is suggesting doesn't necessarily mean BA would wholesale adopt Untappd's beer database, just that differences would be reconciled. One could imagine BA gaining a lot of unlisted new beers, particularly for breweries where not many BA members live, Untappd having some of its vintage listings and duplicates cleaned up, both as part of the same process. This could also be another way to update some of the style information on BA (e.g., reclassifying more IPAs that were added before BA had a NEIPA style on the books).

But, wouldn't a beer mis-entered on UT automatically get added here?

    Not necessarily.

Tart Fruit Ales are not kettle soured. Definitely belongs under Fruit and Field.

I'll have to look into this - Untappd has this classified as sour-fruited. Fruited kettle sour is our closest category.

If this integration were to happen, would our ratings/reviews be merged together too? Or at the very least able to link accounts in some way?

Merging ratings, reviews, and accounts are not within the scope of creating a unified beer database.
