I’ve had a ton of people tell me that we should host more virtual beer fests. So, last night during the Lager Fest pre-hangout I mentioned that I’d start a poll to see how many people would be interested in continuing to attend our virtual beer fests post-pandemic.

    Here it is.

Cast your vote and be heard! And feel free to add any additional thoughts or ideas.

    Thanks!

Yes please! They're pretty accessible, and while in-person fests are their own experience, you kind of can't beat being comfortable at home AND not having to wait in line for a brew or bathroom. Having the more intimate hangouts and talks woth brewers and a curated box are definitely nice too.

These are significantly easier for me to attend (and support BA in so doing), as a resident of flyover Midwest country. I've done 2 out of 3 thus far, and only passed on the IPA-focused one for personal palate reasons.

They've been a fantastic opportunity to try excellent beers from breweries I'm never even near the distribution of, and to hear about the processes and workings of said breweries as well. As long as these keep being organized, I'll keep virtually attending!

Yes, I love not having a line to go to the bathroom and not having to worry about catching an Uber or whatever.

While I have fun at in-person festivals, I also don't like crowds. Plus harder to impossible to get beer shipped to my home is cool.

If they're profitable for you guys then you definitely should

Yes! It’s the way of the world now and I enjoy it so much more from the comfort of my own home

Personally, I don't really see the point of these virtual beer fests, but whatever floats people's boats.

If there had been a "whatever" option in the poll, that would have gotten my vote.

The concept doesn't grab me, but certain folks seem to enjoy them.

    Shrug.

Sure. I would hope BA still will host physical fests, but for those of us that can't readily travel to such events, the virtual fest idea is open to nearly every BA where the fest beers can be delivered...

I would have been all over the Lagerfest if shipping to CO was an option.

I say yes though I haven't participated yet. Probably next time I will! Barleywine theme perhaps?

Absolutely. Right now, even if I signed up for an in-person event, there is the chance that it might get cancelled anyway. That means if it isn't local I'm cancelling flights and hotel reservations. Also, I enjoy the virtual format and it is only improving.

For recommendations, a Winter Warmer festival would be neat.

Yeah, this is another thing. Nothing's going to be perfect (holding the physical fest in large cities on the coasts precludes plenty of folks), but with all the various laws across the country, the logistics of shipping for these things has to be a pain.

We have a local carrier but they fudged it up on the first fest. People were getting boxes weeks late IIRC. So colorado got cut.

I vote yes. They're fun, you're home and can take as much or as little time as you want with any one beer. The videos are hit or miss, but that's ok. You also get beers from places far away (like getting a beer from VT in WA).

We'd be all over a pre-holiday Fest with stouts and porters. -- and focusing on traditional styles and few to none of those high ABV / BA Whales.

Yes, please! Unless a live fest makes it to Texas, or I happen to hit a fest local during travel, this is the only way for me to participate. I am happy Halftime delivers in Texas!

I certainly appreciate them, as a parent in the middle of the country. (I know, I know.) It's nice to be able to drink a nice selection of beers that I'm pretty unlikely to try otherwise, and while it's a very different vibe than an in-person beer fest, that's much more my speed these days.

I've done two of the three so far (missed the IPA one), and would definitely keep doing these in the future, even without COVID shutdowns hanging over everything.

I'd also say that these virtual fests let us focus on things like lower-alcohol lagers, while an in-person beer fest tends to push you (well, me) toward the bigger, weirder, one-off things. I appreciate the focus--the "curation," if I have to say it--of this fest in particular.

Doesn't matter to me until you figure out the shipping problem. Tavour can ship to MN, so it just seems to me like you don't want to bother figuring it out.

If you can figure that out, then YES!
