Platform Pink Martian. This was awesome. Huge pink guava and mango juiciness. Moderate tartness and light lacto funk. Crisp/refreshing lt-med body. Nice wheat backbone. No puckering. I love their sours. Insanely drinkable for 7.5% 4.1

Ellicottville pumpkinville latte. Really nice. Biscuit, toast, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. Some coffee roast and vanilla. Light-med spice bitterness. Very similar to pumking. Has less coffee than southern tiers version. 3.9

Drinking a Copper Legend Octoberfest from Jack's Abby right now, and it's going well with some cheddar and salamis. Nice rich sweetness with a dry finish, some amber honey, toasty bready caramel notes, hint of orange citrus, really good. Been drinking a lot of Jack's recently, picked up a variety 12pk that I'm on the last cans of after crushing through a 15pk of House Lager, now picked up a 12 of this from the local store next door. Been wanting some nice lagers to get through and they fit the bill. Cheers all!

...some pertinent reading material...have about 30 pages left of 'Mortal Republic', will then dive into 'American Marxism' (should be an interesting parallel read to 'Mortal Republic') and then on to some early American biographical material...should keep me occupied until late next week...

Have you read Shelby Foote's Shiloh? It may be the best historical fiction I have ever read. It is true to the history of the battle and uses a highly creative technique.

No, I haven't read it. I'm not big on historical fiction, but I'll look into it...what's the creative technique used???

He tells the story with alternating perspectives from fictional characters (soldiers) that are preparing for and then in battle. One Union soldier then one Confederate soldier. This is all delivered with Dr. Foote's deep knowledge of excruciating details of those awful few days. The final piece by Lt. Metcalfe of New Orleans is beautiful. It is a great novel.
