Maybe East Branch will be part of "a few more surprises"?

And also Sterling Pig, Victory, Sly Fox,...?

    Cheers!

I have one last kid free day before the school year starts, this coming Monday. I'll be honest it was your post the other day and my subsequent search, and photo menu discovery of Poe's Sandwich Joint which really has me thinking of going on that last free day I have.

Glad you looked into it! Definitely worthwhile if you can squeeze in a run. I was out doing some errands in Philly with my wife and the little one a couple weeks ago. He's only 3 months now and was snoozing away so we squeezed in a quick lunch @ HR and he slept the entire time. Thankfully they open @ 11AM so it's a good spot for a lunch (were in and out of there in under an hour). Once the weather cools down a bit I could see myself sitting outside in their sweet "pilsner pirate" ship. Perhaps even sooner than expected if they drop that festbier soon. Shoot me a message if you end up going...would love to buy you a pint if I'm around.

Up there with crushable, hazy boi and 'loons for my least favorite beer slang.

I'm a lot of fun at parties, I swear.

    I’m not.

I hate parades, fireworks, the beach, birthday parties, strip clubs (outside of Montreal), and fun in general.

Let’s be honest: Big Beach had indoctrinated us to believe the beach is a place we should enjoy. The beach stinks. Sand sucks. The water is cold. There’s nothing to do but sweat. There are no trees. Sunscreen needs to be reapplied fourteen times. It’s crowded. Seagulls are rats with wings. And don’t get me started on doing all of this with children.

Hmm, that must be a New England thing!?!

Last week I was in Rehobeth Beach, DE and the water temperature was great!

    Cheers!

Don't forget we usually have to drive through weekend summer traffic north (or leave absurdly early...which you should do, because parking is a nightmare). Then drive home in the afternoon through more traffic going the other way.

Oh, and you have to lug a cooler full of food and drinks (not to mention preparing said food).

The entire time thinking, "I could be by a pool at someone's house, 20 feet from a fridge with all this stuff).

I like the areas where there's a beach...bars, restaurants, the boardwalks...but a day on the beach blows.

Keeping this on beer, are there any tap rooms at a beach in New England? Smutty used to have one by Hampton right?

Yup, sure is. Our water is frigid. And if you leave MA and go further north in NH or in ME, forget it.

Luckily lots of craft beer comes in cans now, so you can choose to sit on the beach and drink up to stay warm!

The beach can be great so long as you aren't sentenced to being there all day. 90 minutes of beach time, IMO, that's the top end. You don't eat on the beach, you don't spend the entire day on the beach, you get there, hit the water, dry off in the sun or with a towel real quick, walk the shore, then gtfo. Your order may vary.
