Yeah, sounds basically like a custom blended batch of The Jones Dog. Same adjuncts, just specifically blended for this recipe.

Phantom Unicorn is really good and feels like rebranded BA Jones Dog. The barrel is really big on this bad boy.

Highly recommend no one buy any and definitely let me know where you see it so no one else buys any.

Phantom Unicorn is awesome. So glad I checked this thread out and got a can.

Back when they still had their BA program, I loved how big the barrel presence was on Pipeworks BA beers. This did not disappoint.

Even my missus who likes BA stouts along with me was like, wow, this one is really good.

Can confirm. Not overly hot like many past PW barrel aged beers out of the gate. Adjuncts are muted and balanced, lactose provides body as opposed to a ton of sweetness. It doesn’t need time to settle, it’s excellent right now.

I had Phantom last month at BUG fest, really good, not overly sweet. Open Bottle in Tinley has a good stash of them.

Binny's collaborative beers on the horizon possibly?

Intrinsic Duality No.1 - Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Milk Stout with cacao nibs, lactose and vanilla (aged for 36 months) 15.3%
Intrinsic Duality No.2 - Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine Style Ale (aged for 36 months) 13%
Intrinsic Duality No.3 - Blend of Barrel Aged Beers with cacao nibs, vanilla and lactose (aged for 36 months) 14.7%

Phantom Unicorn is fantastic. Phenomenal texture and extremely nuanced. If you’re looking for the adjuncts to pop, keep moving. Everything is very subtle and balanced.

While I have nothing but praise for their stouts and lagers lately, their IPAs and hop forward beers have left me kind of “meh”. Not bad, but nothing I would pick up again.

Galaxy Unicorn was too sweet and the color was pretty muddy. Don’t really get any of the hops to come through. Which is a bummer because infinite galaxy and NvU Galaxy are some of the best beers they make.

The pale ale they released recently also was too sweet and fruity for my tastes.

Their standard offerings are still Home Runs, but anything one off I think is just going to be a pass unless I somehow see it on draft.

It's interesting...in the early days of Pipeworks, their IPA's were the only "must buy" beers for me.

Now, they are the only "must pass" beers for me.

Pretty sure they haven't changed, but my palate sure has!!

Also; I meant unicorn space base, not galaxy unicorn.

I was gonna say, I thought I missed galaxy unicorn.

Speaking of: in the bomber days of galaxy unicorn, that was my absolute favorite IPA I ever had from PW.

Regarding their IPAs, Citra on Repeat is really good and both of the Cryo Mosaic beers I've had from them--Mosaic on Repeat and, especially, LK v the Cryo (I think that's the name)--are excellent.

Labels are from TTB. Nothing formally announced from either PW or Binny's that I've seen. Would likely see something from Binny's for these and then only probably the day of release.
