Here's the description from the website:

Agree with others about the Summer Sour--a great beer that, thankfully, went under the radar for a bit so I was able to snag a few bottles from the brewery while on my way to a wedding in northern Illinois (travelling down from Minnesota).

Here's the description for that one: https://newglarusbrewing.com/beers/ourbeers/beer/summer-sour

Based on the description of the new peach sour it’s a sour brown in oak barrels? R&D wild peach was a brown sour in bourbon barrels with peaches. R&D summer sour was a blonde sour in oak barrels. Excited to say this is potentially an entirely new beer that is not the same as summer sour or wild peach. There is no mention of bourbon flavors in the description and I am assuming it was aged in some type of oak because they mention aging in the fruit cave.

Yeah I kind of wish they added in the description if aged and what they aged in.

Lots O' Peach is something, man. Quite thick, for a sour brown ale. Loads of syrupy sweetness. Honestly, not a ton of distinct peach flavor. I would love it if it was dry-hopped. As it is, I like it. It's got a lot of similarities to Nectar Ale.

Cracked my first Lots o' Peach. Overall, it is a solid beer. Taste is reminiscent of canned peaches in heavy sugary syrup. There is a small bite to it but I would classify it as tart not sour. Glad I bought a 4-pack to try but unsure if I'll buy anymore. Not a bad beer but if you were hoping it was a remake of Wild Peach, you will be disappointed.

I hope when the R&D bottle releases come back, we get more of the funk/sour and less of the carbonated fruit juice most of the Thumbprint series seem to be.

This is my takeaway too. I'd have preferred a blonde base rather than a brown, but my main issue with it is how sweet it is; the nose is pretty awesome if you like peach, and there's some peach in the taste, but there's also a lot of sugar.

I went from thinking "gonna have to grab at least another 4 pack of this" a few sips in, to "well, let's have a couple bottles first" towards the end of the first bottle.
This was what I was thinking the entire time; "man I wish the Thumbprints were at least a little closer to the stuff we get with R&D."

(probably not realistic or particularly economically viable, but I can dream)

The thumbprint series beers like this are likely back sweetened and then pasteurized. Similar to how Lindemanns makes many of their sweet lambics. Dan learned a lot from Lindemanns in the 80s before setting sites on his own brewery. If I’m correct, it means this is a business decisions New Glarus makes and the liquid could just as easily be turned into something more like what we love come to expect from the R&D program

if someone in here is more familiar with the processes NG uses and can refute my assumptions, please do. I don’t want to make guesses if the information is already out there with someone to correct me

Discovered it today when checking out Pear 21 availability - apparently I whiffed on it. But doppelbock sounds like a worthy alternative.

All right, everyone who's had a chance--thoughts on Gyrator? I only see two reviews here on BA.
