The Kolsch seems much improved from last year. Crisper, but keeps some fruitiness.

You're right - it was the Witte I was thinking of - similar to a tripel, but lighter.

    Oh yeah, good beer.

As a side, it's weird Ommegang doesn't make a tripel widely available. It's not like another US brewer has the market cornered on it...and it makes sense for the brand.

I'll have to recalibrate and add to this list but:

    Oxbow Luppolo
    Allagash White
    Allagash Rivertrip
    Bissell Substance
    Notch The Standard
    Tree House Julius
    The Alchemist Heady Topper
    Honest Weight Branch Bridge

I'm sure there are others. What would we say are Fox Farm's "core" beers? The Cabin would certainly join the list for me.

Agreed, seeing how most of their other core beers are Belgian-based. Still, I like everything they've done. |Barring one or two that weren't to my taste, but they're still well done for the style. I'm glad that if they were sold, at least it was to Duvel-Moortgart, instead of one of the other mega-corporations.

"The ones that get less hype but are probably a brewery’s best option."

Heady Topper doesn't get much hype? haha

I think a bit of the Heady hype has died out a bit, since guys like Hill Farmstead and TreeHouse are cranking things out.
    |It's still a great beer, and I won't ever pass it up, but between you, me and the lamppost, I do like Focal Banger a bit more than Heady.

Hopefully you will find it (soon). I have purchased three six-pack of Von Trapp Kolsch so far (2021) and I hope to buy more before the year is out. An excellent Kolsch IMO.

    Cheers!

Last I heard, the Pale Ale was their best selling. But I agree, those two are my favorite of theirs.

There are some beers they repeat, but anymore there aren't any beers that they always have. I loved that prior to the brewpub closing for COVID, they typically always had a Dark Mild on cask, but each one would be a little different.

During COVID they released cans of some of their old school regular beers: Tiny Tim, Queen Anne, Kinch

    District 96 - Photo Op

I almost always have the first 2 in my fridge and usually stock up on the third when it is available. I was also a big fan of Boat back when it was readily available to me.

    Tree House - Green
    Fox Farm - Burst
Other Half - All Citra Everything

I don't make it to these 3 breweries that often, but I always stock up on these 3 when I can.

@mrmattosgood is this what you had planned for the thread?

That aside, I honestly don't think I can mention anything that hasn't been mentioned already.

Whaler's - Rise. Flies off the shelves here in RI/MA. Solid/consistent. Traditional American Pale Ale
Grey Sail - Captain's Daughter. Best beer in RI.

For the most part, yes. We're an increasingly flagship-less beer world. I'm just fascinated by this particular trend.

I'm also fascinated in the longevity. Like what's gonna happen when Mott, Grossman, Todd/Perkins, Calagione, et al. hang up their perforated paddles? I think there are proper stewards of the industry, but not as many as we think. What's the industry in 25 years?

It will be quite interesting to see how Sierra Nevada Brewing ‘evolves’ once Ken Grossman Sr. transitions from semi-retirement to being fully retired. At the moment it appears that the CEO of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company (Jeff White) is calling the shots as regards business strategy whereby hoppy beers (e.g., Juicy/Hazy IPAs) very much dominate the year-round portfolio of products. I have read where some folks have opined that Ken Grossman Jr. will eventually take over Sierra Nevada Brewing Company. It will be interesting to see if this actually transpires and if indeed Ken Grossman Jr. is in charge whether he will just further continue in making SN an IPA business.

FWIW I was a fan of the ‘old’ Sierra Nevada Brewing Company where they produced a broader range of products but…

    Cheers!

They nearly always have Solaire Reserve available, don't they? You're right though, they don't tend to have many "core" beers.

    Bells Two Hearted

    probably forgetting some
