Shorter work day on a shorter work week. Let’s see how I do. [IMG]
An old Advocate is channeling through me this month. One of my five favorite songs by this band.

    Happy midpoint, Ad-vo-cats!

Hey @mschrei thanks for starting todays thread. You’re an early bird and you start things early. Sounds like my sort of person.

I am currently enjoying Guldren Draak. Curiously I have known this beer for two decades but haven’t had it all that often. Worth reconsidering as it’s such a banger:

    Santé!

    Goodmorning everyone !
I returned yesterday from four and a half days spent in Madrid, where I had a work commitment and then I stayed a few more days for vacation as I hadn't been traveling outside Italy since February 2020.

Among the different places I have also been to craft beer places.
In particular, a short visit and long drinks at MAD BREWING, a brewery located in the east of Madrid (near the current Atletico stadium), of which I have already drunk something in Italy, especially in bottles.

The area seems quite industrial, with a mega parking lot and mechanical workshop in front and the brewery is in this street that does not enjoy visibility, only those who know it is located there can know.
Or people like us who go in search and when they see the banner with the brand on it, they understand that they have arrived in the right place.
In conjunction with Oktoberfest the tap list offered a lot of choice of German school beers and also a dedicated menu.
However, before throwing myself on the house beers, I notice an always excellent SALTY KISS (Gose) by MAGIC ROCK (ING) in the fridge and start from there.

Then I tasted the local beers.

    the MARZEN (not unforgettable, but still decently balanced. Final bittering higher than the original style... the hops obscure the other characteristics a bit, in my opinion);
their DUNKEL (even better with those malty scents that gave a pleasant and recognizable contribution)
Then I switched to their IPA (San Frutos Dry Hopped Ipa) which is perhaps the one I liked the most because it gave the product a sense of freshness, already on the nose "crunchy scent" of tropical fruit, body and perfect carbonation, bitter right after all the fruity hints ... really good (I took two).

The IMPERIAL IPA, on the other hand, lost many of these characteristics in exchange for a decidedly more impressive body and with the caramelized taste of the malts that countered the bitter contribution of the hops which this time brought a more herbaceous, woody taste, with balsamic reflections .
Finally, I have come full circle with their STOUT.

Immediately after the first sip I (as a nerd) noticed that such a beer deserved a pump system, without passing the CO2 from the tap ... after a chat on the subject (half in Spanish, half in Italian......... and half with gestures), I concentrated on the beer: medium body, fairly light toasted hints in the background, dark chocolate coffee and a hint of licorice emerged in a delicate way. This too is not unforgettable, but not to be thrown away.
Later, in the afternoon I went to a pub in the center called BREW WILD, which I knew had a good offer of craft beers, but I will tell you about it later or at most tomorrow, because now I have to leave everything and get back to work.

    Sláinte !
    Cheers !

Good morning BAs! Thanks, @mschrei, for starting today's thread! @Shanex - Gulden Draak is probably my favorite non-German brew - I left a couple at my brother's house in Texas last trip there and now he's a fan too - we're planning a (small) keg for our family Oktoberfest celebration in early Nov. @Jack_14, thanks for the excellent report on your business trip/vacation to Spain - I particularly enjoyed your beer report - please add the beers/brewery data/impressions to the BA data base if you haven't already. I really enjoy hearing from our Euro-brethern - there's got to be more than the half-dozen or so that show up on WBAYDN!

My New Breakfast Beer is another ninja hit from @Coronaeus, after cleaning the attached tag on postimages:

    1. You can never go wrong with a Peche Mortel or a variant.
    2. This is quite good. The main problem (for me) is the lack of aroma - a trace of cocoa and that's about it. Rating 3.83, rDev -8.4%. Still, one I'd avidly gobble if I ever see it again!
    3. If someone could tell me how to add diacritical marks in whatever BA uses for these comments, I'd gladly use them!

Thank you @mschrei for kicking things off and your musical selection. I also join @Ozzylizard in appreciation of @Jack_14 's contributions here, really love hearing about the European scene and the post today was excellent, as are most.

Still have 50 Spring/Summer drink fresh beers in the refrigerator, so not buying the Three Floyds Broo Doo I really enjoyed as a single offering this weekend. If you are in the market for a solid Fresh Hop beer in the Midwest, I highly recommend.

On tap, a local beer purchased this Spring, holding up well.

Featuring two women artists from the 1981 flashback today. The standard recording of the second song was played Saturday, but I'm featuring an acoustic performance by the band's co-writer of the song (with Terry Hall).

    Cheers!

That orange utensil in the background makes it look like you're drinking with a straw. How is this KBS variant compared to the others?
