@steveh -- you're just never going to convince me they shouldn't inform their customer, to the best of their ability, how much alcohol is in a beer.

However, please know I'm not some craven lunatic guzzling beer and driving regardless!

Much respect, I have no gripe with you. As stated above, it's just a pet peeve.

I guess that would depend on the duration of the sitting, but c'mon -- we're talking about consuming alcohol here, if you don't know your own body when that buzz hits, maybe you should rethink your choices. JMO.

It is WILD that in the year of our Lord 2021 with all the resources New Glarus has at their disposal they don't put the ABV on the can/label. There's no excuse for it. You can make up whatever bullshit but it should be on the package.

The ABV is on New Glarus labels, they just print it in FIB-proof ink. I thought everyone knew this by now?

So, NG can count you out for further purchases?

See, I guess I just respect them for their reputation and that lets me give them a break on their choices in providing us their product.

Well yes, we need to know so we can 'make choices based on alcohol content' and thus get more drunk than we already are at any given moment.

You should see the scene at Hoppin Frog, this is exactly the type of people they attract--at least a certain cohort outside of the shandy ladies.

New Glarus does include the ABV on the R&D beers. I suppose nobody is buying those based on alcohol content so that doesn't really conflict with their stated reason for normally not listing it.

Speaking of, I think I remember them saying at GTMW (and memory is not my strong suit normally much less that day) that they were hoping to open up in October and with that, hopefully they could do an R&D release. So maybe soon?

@d5001986 -- you uploaded the info on Gyrator, where did you get the ABV info?

Quoted by NG, or an assumption?

(I'll look -- unless it was the article I posted...* that won't let you read it after you look at it twice.)

*Yeah, kicks me out after I only get thru a paragraph.

Is the author, Chris Drosner, a BA member?

It was quoted in the info on the beer, ironically, in the same section where the author complains that NG doesnt publish ABV.

Yeah, I got in a back door -- and it's not referenced where he got that percentage.

    Inside source? Pure guess?

I love NG and buy pretty much every new beer they put in distro, but I'd definitely prefer a stated ABV on their bottles; some beers can sneak up on you, so I like a good 'ol percentage on the can to tell me what I'm dealing with.

It's not a deal-breaker, but it's definitely a weird omission for an alcoholic beverage.

I don't know, maybe I've just been a BA for so long I pretty much know what to expect when I see Doppelbock, Barleywine, Imperial Stout, IIPA -- or some such on a label. I don't really need to know an exact number to know to be careful.

That's fair, but some of his stuff is a little weirder (although I also have 0 sense of what a doppelbock comes in at, because I rarely drink 'em), and some have at least seemed stronger than I expected (I'm certainly not talking about things like Scream or a Tripel, though, which should be known quantities). But NG is also huge everywhere in WI (and IL, of course) among people who have no idea what a tripel even is, so I'm surprised they haven't added the abv for those people's sake.
