I bit the bullet. I've never had a chance to try CDC, but at the same time, my sister has been steadily getting into Sours for the last 2-3 years, and she loves all the SP stuff I get her. So, I very well may just end up having killed 2 birds with one stone.

Had a pour of Coconut Vibes at the brewery today. The first sip was an eye opener for sure. The coconut is off the charts. But after a couple sips it was just too much, too sweet. The base stout is there but very much muted by the blast of coconut and sweetness. By the end of the 5 oz I was very glad I didn't buy a package. I would not have made it through a whole bottle. But I get that a lot of people are into that sort of thing.

I’m at the brewery sipping it on draft right now. It’s a great sipper, like a liquid Mounds bar, that I think is better with a little chill on it as it feels a little too rich when close to room temp. I was never buying a bottle to drink on my own, but yeah I’d be surprised if I could get past a 5-6 oz pour in one sitting.

the newest blend of SdF pinot has to be the best since b1. i’m admittedly not a believer that b1 was that much better than any of the others thus far, but i know i’m in the minority there. popped a b5 last night and was a little worried i wouldn’t be able to handle it solo. i was wrong on that. delicious beer and a bit more funk than i remember in past blends.

1000% agree. Bought a 6-pack after I opened my first b5. So good and I bet it ages wonderfully.

At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, I'll post this anyway. Opened up an Achromatic Vibes (my first, my last) last night. Couldn't quite finish this solo - left 4ish oz in the glass. Just sat down for a quick lunch while the baby is sleeping, and saw the glass from last night, and decided, oh, what the hell, I'll see how it faired. To my surprise, tastes just like last night. Not sure what that means - never had this happen before. Normally I take a sip just to see how bad it is, then throw it out. I just finished it. Maybe due to all the sugars.

you should totally cap / cork those big stouts / barleywines, stick them in the fridge and finish the next day. they hold up well and you don’t have to finish 25oz in a single sitting.

I will try that on the next one. I have had a lot of mixed results when using a vacuum sealer till day 2. Sometimes it works OK, other times it is terrible. I remember CBS being so flat and overly oxidized it was not worth drinking (this was around 2018). BCBVBS 2.0 the year it was released worked great. Bad luck with any of the saisons or sours (even SP) that I have done this with (which was by accident, not by plan). -BUT, based on this experience, I foresee this working well in the future and will likely never again plan to try to dome one of these. Opened it last night because I knew it’d be awhile: had to clean, do laundry, and do prep work for tonight’s dinner.

I am rambling, but thanks.

It goes without saying but also make sure you have a good vacuum sealer. Have had ones in the past that just didn’t work well, be it beer or wine.

You shouldn’t be using a vacuum sealer like a Vacu Vin with beer. It creates negative pressure that sucks the carbonation out of it. Get a good champagne stopper with a design that works with waxed bottles, as in it doesn’t need to clamp onto the lip of the bottle.

I use a wine stopper made with cork where it fits into the bottle opening. Half one night, half the next. Been doing that for many years, and have never had any issues with carbonation or flavors on day 2.
