I certainly did so quite intentionally for comedic effect. :grinning:

Even my "best" years, I clock in at around 1.3-1.5 beers per day. 2.5/day over a 10 day span, that includes 2 NBW threads, isn't necessarily representative. A 14 day span would be better - and that would drop my average below 2/day, just by adding in those extra 4 days. Then, consider the BIF cycle: over the last 10 days, I've had far more new beers dropped on my head, without any extra effort of my own. So this 14 day span isn't representative of a typical 14 day span in 2020.

Then again then again, my daily average, over the course of a year, is impacted by my sandwich delivery schedule. This year, I only lost about 3 total weeks of potential new beer reviews, although the total impact is greater.

Long story short (too late!): I'm not going to keep up the 2.5/day pace of the last 10 days, nor the ~1.93/day pace of the last 2 weeks. It's going to take me about a year and a half, most likely to hit @ovaltine 's mark of #4000.

But hey, the BIF isn't over yet, so .... :stuck_out_tongue:

Time for my second and last new beer of this weekend. I've got a 2015 - 2020 vertical of BCBS lined up for this evening so we are getting started on that. But first a hearty congratulations to @ovaltine on the big milestone! Keep them coming!

This is Door County Brewing Company - Dark Skies. They call it a generic "dark lager", but its pretty clearly a schwarzbier. It comes in at 5.2% ABV.

Pours a pitch black, completely opaque, and surprisingly viscous for a 5.2% lager. Nice thick velvety mocha colored head forms on the beer. Aroma has notes of creamy roasted malts, cocoa, and some light piney hops.

Taste has notes of roasted malts, creamy, cocoa, tobacco, a light ash, and a hint of smoke before giving way to a sharp piney hop bite. Its a lovely smooth, roasty profile. Feel is medium, fuller bodied, rather dry on the finish.

Overall this beer was a real pleasant surprise - its a lovely beer and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. If I get the chance to pick this one up again, I will.

Come to think of it, though, you're kind of tempting me to go with one more review before the evening ends ... and we are on a lightning delay in the SNF game ... :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello Late Night New Beer S Weekend.
OMGawd. @Roguer I must sing your praises, and that of Beer'd.
    Matter of Time NEIPA

    4.47/5 rDev +0.9%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Definitely New England style. Hazy, golden, bountiful head. Retention is solid. Lacing is scattered and light.
Aroma is glorious. Juicy pop of peppery grass, mango and papaya, pithy grapefruit zest, lime rind, and a very green herbal note.
Taste is a supple melange of tropical and citrus with a nuanced herbal medley. Seriously, how do they do this? Mango and tangerine. Orange and papaya with an herbal, peppery lemongrass note. Honeydew, juniper, maybe underripe blueberry. Wet, almost sweet, grain. A mild, very organic, earthy note. Like the flavor version of a most subtle fern rhizome scent. I know, it sounds kinda weird, but that's what came to mind. It's alive. There is so much going on here.
The base really presents all that the hops offer. The fluffy mouthfeel is alive, creamy and pillowy at the same time. The finish comes back to a just-short-of decadent juiciness.
Overall, I'm already married, but...I love this one.

5 pages! Tupps DDHIPA Alpha Drop. Has Galaxy, Nelson, Cryo Citra & Cryo Mosaic hops. 7.0% ABV; 4.13 overall

Pours a hazed gold, with 2 fingers of pearl colored head. Below average head retention & lacing

    S: Passion fruit, lime, tangerine

T: Follows the nose, dryness, pink grapefruit as well up front. Guava, pink grapefruit & little green melon as this warms, plus dryness. Finishes dry with Kiwi Fruit, Pink Grapefruit & a little lime

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, nice balance

Well done New England IPA . Super drinkability

I'm glad you liked it! As @JayORear can surely attest, Beer'd's specialty is not the hazy NE IPA style; their best beers are closer to slightly more traditional WC IIPAs - but really juicy, and really damn smooth. They've fairly recently jumped on the haze train, but so far I've been pretty impressed.

Great Divide Maple Pecan Yeti Imp Stout, 9.5%ABV, 3.89 overall

Pours an effervescent brown/mahogany with tan head. Not impressive lacing & head retention

S: Maple candy, a touch of booze, cola

T: Maple candy, dryness maybe from the pecans, also there, coffee, a kiss of vanilla, a smaller kiss of booze & charred grain up front. More coffee, some maple sweetness & a little pecan husk dryness/nuttyness/bitterness as this warms, Finishes super dry from the Pecans I suppose, with traces of coffee, Maple sweetness & woody hops

MF: Medium body & carbonation, warming, turns a little thin as it warms

In the Yeti catalog, this is lower tier, but still pretty drinkable
