Good day BAs! Off to yet another cool start here on the tundra of NW PA. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Really not up to Clown Shoes stout standards - the Whistlepig barrels died in vain. Overall, this is a bit thin and flavorless - 'way overpriced. Rating 3.63, rDev -6.4%. One stovepipe and done.

Frozen tundra? That sucks @Ozzylizard , though nice you have a beer to enjoy.

Currently sitting on my porch, in shorts, enjoying the White Sox flags flying across the street in the far Northwest Side of Chicago.

Enjoying my thoughts with a great local brew.

Contemplating whether to go somewhere to watch Game 4, or remain in the bunker and listen while watching MLB pitches via Gameday. Can they win two more to advance?

Rod’s song from 50 years ago provides my current state of mind.

Day off, set this day aside 21 years ago when I purchased the business from my (now deceased) father. He started the business in 1972 on Columbus day. So in our shop it is Founders Day (not the beer) in honor of the begining of this journey. Paid day off for all staff
Enjoying Expedition Stout 2018 version. Exquisite.
    Do good
    Be well

Good morning BAs! I stayed up late last night, so I slept in this morning…last night’s closer (which I apparently didn’t post):

    …is this morning’s opener - Cycle Brewing’s Cuvee - Just Macadamia:

Released earlier this year, but the label says 2020. Poured at 58°. An Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels for 20 months, then rested on Macadamia nuts. I love this beer! Semi sweet chocolate fudge, nutty macadamia, and bourbon in the background. I may go to the brewery and get another bottle this afternoon. Cheers and have a mellifluous Monday y’all!

Morning, BAs! I feel you can often tell just how much "recovery" some BAs need from the weekend by how lively the Monday thread is - or, more accurately, isn't.

I'm ready to get to some Hobbit Juice with my lunch:

That hot sauce is no joke, either! Bourbon, coffee, and both Carolina Reaper and Scorpion peppers. If you don't hear from me again today, it's because I overdid it with the hot sauce.

    Cheers!

Great entrant for the day (I'm off ) - smooth and roasty - got KBS Espresso and KBS Cinnamon Vanilla still on-hand - seems a good day for it...

Broke my Pumking "Long Live the King" glass last night... :sob:
Damn if that didn't suck - doesn't appear to be available anywhere online anymore either - saw a goblet-style Pumking glass from Southern Tier on their website, but it was out of stock (it also doesn't have "Long Live the King" written on it ) - I'll still totally order one if they replenish their stock...

Gotta improve my glassware protection spells until...

    Cheers...

Good day Advocates. Thanks @Ozzylizard for popping open today's thread. Having a new brew today after a brisk, hilly 5.65 mi run. Deschutes Twilight Ale. 38IBU 5%ABV. Lovely amber with a frothy head, a colorful flowery and malty nose and an exquisite light bodied flavor wave of mildly juicy hops, sweet malt, toasted grains and a subtle hint of cedar resin. An EZ drinkin' golden ale. Extremely good. Another trophy for Deschutes!
    Cheers! Keep on smiling!

Just ask our retired friends here, they’ll assure you that they work more now than they used to with the 9-5.

    Not to mention the grandchildren.

On the upside, hard working people tend to live long or maybe that’s just propaganda.

    Cheers!

Good evening Advocates, here the temperatures drop in practically two days.
I thought it appropriate to open this enveloping Imperial Stout from this Russian brewery of which I have only ever drunk Stout or Imperial Stout even in pubs.

Bakunin Brewing Co. (St. Petersburg, RUS) -Tропическое Затмение (Tropicheskoe Zatmenie) ↦ TROPICAL ECLIPSE (Imperial Stout 11,5%)

    Imperial Stout from 11.5%.
Drink after about 10 min. resting after being taken out of the fridge.
As soon as it is opened immediately a flush of vanilla.
When poured, the smell becomes even fresher and more lively: vanilla, toasted notes.
    Impenetrable black, soft beige foam.
Poured vertically, it is a sight to see it rise as the foam descends.
In the mouth full body but not dense, nor flat: pleasant slight carbonation.
Prevailing taste of vanilla, chocolate and sweet toasted notes that refer to coffee and coconut.
Sweet, full, warm but not heavy or cloying.
The alcohol content is well hidden, even if it inevitably comes out after the beer has approached room temperature while resting in the glass.
