The barleywine influence was definitely strong enough to pick out with ease, but compared to just Arcane Rituals by itself I think this still has some stout characteristics to round things out. I prefer stouts over barleywines generally.

For anyone, what does it mean when they described it as a high gravity version of Arcane?

 

Not a fan of most BL IPAs but their Greyhound on tap has always been a fav with that fresh grapefruit taste, tho they recently canned that beer and I haven't sampled (guzzled) it in that format yet.

 

My guess, AR b2 was something like 3% lower ABV than b1. So they might have used a higher ABV version of AR in this new blend.

Regarding the expansion -- yes, it's absolutely still in our future. We're just a bit less certain about what it should look like now. We'd started a bit of our production-side growth in late 2019 and were in meetings with our architect and design team developing the guest-facing side of things in late February 2020 when the pandemic shifted our course.

We battened down our hatches pretty firmly and by late Fall 2020 we'd slowly started back in on our planned production-side growth. We swapped our 15bbl system out for a 30bbl and (as of last month) have completed our cellar with a set of new 60bbl fermentors, swapped our oldest 15bbl FVs for 30s, and have brought two new 60bbl brite tanks online.

When the state reopened on-premise service opportunities, we built out an enormous patio addition that increased our occupancy cap from 48 to about 170. If you haven't been by the brewery recently, it's a really vibrant space that's worlds more comfortable than the crowded barrel tables of The Before-Times. We're finishing up a big-screen movie room off of the right side of the building, too.

Long story long, we're waiting to see how things go this winter. We want to make sure we're building an engaging, evergreen space where people feel comfortable stepping into the unique design and storytelling of Bottle Logic, and simultaneously comfortable in terms of their personal safety. We're hoping for a better winter than the last, and with another year of data reflecting how people are feeling about being out in the world, hoping we can intelligently kick things back in gear.

In the meantime, keep the last week of March 2022 open.

I got to try Somniphobia at FOBAB, then went back for a few more pours because it was one of my best pours of the fest, and I couldn't believe it hadn't kicked and the fest was almost over. I'm usually less a fan of BL's coffee stouts, but it was absolutely delicious, super thick and decadent.
