    The commercial breweries in Dutch colonies had to, by law, purchase hops imported from the home country but wild hops did grow in area, according to Tinged with Gold, a history of hops in the US. I'd imagine that brewers at home used the wild hops. Hop farming was common in the New England colonies > states into the early 1800s (they were even exporting them to the colonies to the south, Canada and Europe), but it's unclear what original root stock they used.

    Damn thats dramatic. Is it weather issues that cause so much to fall short of specs?
