I am not familiar with pulling nails, in general. I know (or at least thought!??) that some blends had quite a bit of fruit in them. I don’t see fruit mentioned. Am I crazy and they never have fruit, or they sometimes have fruit but this new blend will not?

(I wasn’t joking that I intend to gift my sister a bottle. Her good friend, who I have also known for 20 years, is also deep into sours. I’m trying to figure out if I can use the pulling nails as a gift. If I win, my sister may want a bottle to gift to this friend (the pulling nails), and then the tete would likely be her gift. This is about the only way I can justify a $200 package, since I do not have a lot of disposable income.)

It's often fruited, sometimes not. The whole concept is literally pulling nails, tasting, blending and experimenting. Check out all the entries for each version here on BA.

If I saw a bottle of BBT for sale for $100 or a bottle of Tete for $80 in July at Total Wine I wouldn't think twice about buying it. In fact I would probably buy multiples. So $180 for the package, plus you get 2 other bottles and glassware.

it’s really not the most terrible price. just a lot of dough up front at once. the package itself rules. right down to La Ruche, which is an excellent saison. take it to your next share and break up the stouts / BWs!

I’m good with the package and it’s price. Only thing I don’t care for in there is the glass

I'm honestly in for Tete, not even anticipating much trade value on the BBT based on the discussion here the past few days, so the rest of it is gravy.

My only problem now is that if I get it, then last year's Tete would be the only one I've not had.

First, we all know this is a luxury good, and as much as I want to say I wouldn’t pay $100 for a bottle, I probably would at some point, and I know I paid (in equivalent trading costs) right around $115 for Rare 2010. So, it isn’t beyond the pale, and the beers are all good.

I really do hate the packages, though. If you read through any forum anywhere about whiskey or through any BCBS thread, people talk about how stores that bundle lower bottles with higher bottles (sometimes called pay to play) should be black listed, everyone should boycott, fuck these places! Right? For some reason that is never the case for Side Project. All the reasons why people support the packages are all the reasons why those liquor stores do it too, but no one supports that at all. So, while I am willing (eager, excited even?) to buy this package, deep down I am personally still a bit outraged that for some reason the collective mind has agreed this is OK for this one special seller. Doesn’t make any sense.

Part of the problem with whiskey is that a lot of these stores are charging secondary price (not MSRP) for the bottles in addition to requiring bundles. Or you don't even get a chance to buy the bottles unless you know someone/the manager or have spent a lot of $'s there (I understand needing to take care of the best customers). Long way of saying the bourbon market is too irrational to compare anything to.

because unlike these liquor stores with BCBS there is literally nowhere else to go for SP?
