Hey Dovetail, I'm here to simply say "I'm coming for ya this weekend." @OleWorm
Excited to get back... after 2 years of absence (shakes fist at virus and all variants!).
    Prost!

Thanks, @OleWorm, for a nice surprise. And the beer is excellent!

LOVE the Festbier! Made it to Dovetail and picked up some 4pks to share with friends, but also saw some at Joe's Warehouse in Romeoville yesterday. Prost!

It's been discussed previously, but I'm really seeing a lot more canned beers that aren't developing a decent head -- hands-on experience, too.

I'll have to recheck its head with a new can, but this is a 0.3L glass that cannot hold the entire beer, so it was refilled for the photo.

Sounds good, but I've still been seeing a lot of beers poured from cans that seem to go flat ver fast.

Recent examples: SN Okto, Metro Okto, Urban Chestnut Okto, Revolution Okto. Even Roaring Table's Okto.

Before I read your post, I was expecting your tag to be about their amber Festbier.

Confirmed with another can and a bigger glass, no head, and very low carbonation. It is also indeed amber and quite strong for the style at 6.7% ABV. With all that, it drinks like a much lighter beer and has a nice subtle malts/hops balanced taste.

This makes no sense to me. The only company I’d give a pass on from that list would be a very small production like Roaring Table. All the others are big enough and experienced enough to avoid this problem

are you sure you are using clean glassware? I mean, Sierra Nevada and a Rev don’t F up beers like this

I knew this would pop up sooner or later. Yes. Completely sure.
There's a whole discussion in one of the threads about this -- directly dealing with SN. Maybe in the SN Okto thread? I believe @zid did some experimentation.

    @FBarber probably remembers the string.

I think you are referencing this thread by me. It was regarding head formation and retention, and I think it’s an inherent disadvantage of pouring from cans (but it doesn’t impact all beers equally). It sounds like the issue with the Dovetail beer is a packaging/beer issue rather than a general issue with cans. @shkin @beardown2489

Dunno, my pours look similar to yours in all the beers I poured; starts out promising but sort of quickly disintegrates.

That said, someone from out east posted a pic of a Dovetail Dunkel, or some darker beer, with a good-looking head. I suppose it could have been snapped at its apex.

Tomorrow from 1-8pm, we're doing something we've been wanting to do for a long time (but was put on the back burner once 2020 happened ...) -- we'll be pouring more than a dozen of our spontaneously-fermented beers for the first time.

Our Kriek and Framboise are the most traditional of our fruited spon beers, but we've spent the last year or so working with literal tons of other fruits (and a few spirit barrels). Hope you can join us for some post-FOBAB fun!

    On tap will be:
    Bourbon Barrel Kriek
    Tequila Strawberry
    Rum Apple
    Blackberry
    Black Raspberry
    Gooseberry
    Red Currant
    Chardonnay
    Riesling
    Pinot Noir
    Cab Franc
    Rhum Vig
    12.25 (Holiday Vignette)
    Pomme
    Kriek
    Framboise

Is the 8PM time a hard end? or will they still be on for the rest of the evening?

Secret Garden was an awesome event. Hats off to Dovetail staff - @OleWorm and co. for putting together an unrivaled list of spontaneous sour ales. Pinot Noir, Rum Apple, Riesling, Tequila Strawberry, and Black Raspberry were my top 5. Still ISO Chardonnay and Blackberry though...
