Since they opened back up for in person lines, all the beers available for shipping sold out immediately and there's been nothing added. Guess it was good while it lasted.

There isn’t much going on in the To Go section. Foggy Windows. That’s it. Maybe their gearing up for a soft and hard opening across the way in Anaheim?

Or just BEER, in general? Are they still making it? I'm starting to have my doubts, haha. JK, jk.

I was feeling the same sense of defeat knowing that any day the shipping option could just disappear and never come back, but I'm guessing the last week or so was just a blip. Go ahead and check it again now... :heavymetal:

Drove by and peaked at the place recently, still looks like they’re renovating a bit. I’d be surprised if it opened in 2021.

I will be in the area next weekend and planning on stopping by Monkish Friday afternoon. Any advice for a newbie? How is parking around the brewery? What days do they typically release cans?

The earlier you get there the better chances of getting a parking spot inside the complex the brewery is in. If not no biggie you can park across the street and just talk a short walk over. Their releases have been pretty sporadic but cans don’t sell out within hours like they used to. I think the offerings they have now have been available since Tuesday? Anyway biggest advice is to just enjoy some brew and try a breakfast burrito from Fantastic Cafe :stuck_out_tongue:

I can't remember if Monkish takes any time off around New Years, as I am going to be in the are Jan 6-7. Can I expect Monkish to be open with cans to go?

Just heard from a close friend, he just got back from LeisureWorld, that Monks down the street will open next weekend. He talked to one of the workers at Monks. He had to walk from MT to Monks as the Packing District was packed full of cars. No parking nearby. He also sent a photo of Monks which is next door to Umami and another of the parking lot of MT which someone graffitied the wall “Modern Times Sucks!” I wonder what happened there?

I stopped by Monkish on Wednesday night last week and asked one of the staff members if they happened to know when the Anaheim location would be opening up and they said within the next couple of weeks.

On Friday I ate at 18 Folds, which happens to be right next to where Monkish Anaheim is set to open, but it doesn’t quite look ready as far as I can tell. Didn’t really snoop around much but perhaps the finishing touches aren’t that hard to complete in the days leading up to the soft or grand opening.

Related-ish: are there other good breweries in relative proximity of Monkish? I have one night in LA in January and am trying to pick the area that I'm going to prioritize. Monkish is at the top of my list, but I also see that Homage is somewhat close to Glendale Tap, which is tempting.

The closest one is Smog City, which is basically walking distance away.. also Yorkshire if you are into non hoppy English type beers and cask ales

Phantom Carriage is also close but the atmosphere is a lot better than the beer.

Thanks for the responses. Maybe I'll try to Uber up to Homage area afterwards instead.

    Just an FYI

Homage is not that close to Smog City , In my eyes it might as well be in another state even though its a straight shot down the 110.

If you do decide to Uber from Smog City/Monkish to Homage and Glendale Tap i hope it isn't on a weekday around rush hour.

    Good luck!
