I appreciate it dude. Haven't had kbbs and I'm trying to tick it. Was trying to avoid trading my bbt or derivation but it looks like I might just have to.

What's the relative value of a 2018 ECBP BCBS. By this I mean the 12-year Elijah Craig BCBS aged in ECBP barrels. This was the first of the specialty reserve series. I don't remember the real name, maybe BCBS 12-year Reserve? :grimacing:

For comparison, here are some things I'd be interested in:

    Anabasis (any?)
    Benthic Xtr Dbl
    BCBS Blanton's

I'm quite confident it's short of Anabasis, but is it about half? Less? And for the Benthic, surely it's equal to 1 can, but how far would it get me to 2?

    Really, that low?

    Well, that's depressing.

Is no one interested anymore because it's BCBS, or is this just past it's thrill stage?

Won an '18 KBBS during Stout Stock and was curious about what (if any) SP Stout that could land atm. What add-ons would be needed to land a DB Maple in the Woods? Thanks and cheers!

I think you could ask for a small plus but 1:1 isn’t far off.

Recently I saw a BBT5 go for a Floodland 6 pack, which seems generous. Would 2 Floodland’s with a plus (like a P3 Curvature/ Voodoo Apothic ) or possibly 3 bottles get it done. Or does this forever change the amount of Floodland’s that would need to get it done to 6? I’ve never traded for a BBT before so trying to get a feel for it. Thanks!

Like anything it depends what was actually traded and also it’s probably just and outlier. Some floodland bottles trade higher than others so you could do 2-3 floodland bottles.

Would a CW Black Gold Marshmallow Fudge Cookie, a can of Triptych Forces Way Beyond Our Control, & a can of VSOJ get a bottle of HF Samuel or a Vanilla bean Assassin or double barrel assassin?

I want to say your close to VBA but if we’re talking “points” let’s just say what you have is like 1.75 maybe 2. Here’s what I’ve seen the beers you are ISO:
    VBA 2-2.5
    Samuel 4-4.5
    DBA 7

This is just speculation, so take it with however many grains of salt you feel is appropriate.

To begin with, my recollection is that this beer saw national distribution. Where I lived, we didn't get a whole lot of it during the Black Friday release, but given the price tag (around $30 for a 500 ML bottle if I recall correctly?), it didn't sell out all that quickly. I think the place I went to got in around 12 bottles of it. I was curious about it, so I bought a bottle to share at the bar (as I was confident I wouldn't be able to consume an entire bottle all by myself). I thought it was a good, solid, BA stout that was a bit heavy on the bourbon, but otherwise a very enjoyable beer. That seemed to be the consensus at the bar as well, with most folks predictably stating that they thought it was good, but not worth the money.

I thought the beer might improve with some short term cellaring, but in any event it did not strike me as the sort of beer I'd want to plunk down that kind of money for in the future. One was enough for me.

So my take is this. I think a considerable quantity of this beer was made by GI/AB-InBev, and while good, I don't think it engendered any sort of "wow factor." As a result, the price has gone up a bit since release, but not a lot.

Lastly... if I recall correctly, I think I saw a thread from roughly a year ago that indicated you could still buy bottles at various GI tap houses for... You guessed it. $40 to $50 a pop.

Are you sure that they showed up in Washington in 2018?

So, 2018 was the first release, and although it was supposed to be only released in Kentucky, they showed up in KY, NY, and as I recall just a few other select areas. As I recall, though, several people from KY ended up being able to get whole cases without a problem.

Anyway, for a year or so after this, as far as I can recall, the bottle always seemed to trade around $80 - and I recall that for several reasons, including that it was trading a little higher than the cost of rare15 at retail.

You are correct that in Chicago you can still order these (onsite or togo). It's listed at $88.

Of the different iterations that have been released, this appears to have been the most limited of the reserve series. If not, it's only behind the 2-year aged Reserve (which may have, again, been mostly chicago distro?).

I really assumed this would be somewhere in the $60-80 rather than the $40-50. Oh well. Will still see what I can do with that, as I'd like to increase my variety a bit.

This was in Oregon, and you may be correct. Perhaps I'm confusing iterations. GI makes so many different variations, I have a hard time keeping track of them all.

I'm totally out of touch with Floodland values. I'm trying to trade two BA Horus bottles (Duppy Dolphin + Phatom Porpoise) for some 2:2 or 2:1, what bottles would be a fair ISO to throw up for these (no grape ones though)

Yes, they make so much BCBS now that people have cases of '18 Reserve. It's still a solid beer, but there's just so much supply that you can get it for a bit above cost via FB. Aside from DB BCBS released in 2019, all variants can be gotten at cost to 70-80.

Just for reference I traded 6 bottles of Floodland (Sen X, Exoculo, Incantation, Waxwing, Fallow in Light, Death Come Quickly) for BBT 2020, Langst and Pulling Nails 12.

This will again change as per the comment on what kind of bottles. Hope this helps!

How do recent Revolution BA cans (Deth, Deth by Raspberries , Vanilla Deth, Blackberry Finn, Strawberry Jacket, and the On&Ons) compare to Prairie barrel aged bottles like Bourbon Paridise, BA Bomb, Apple Brandy Noir, Pirate Bomb, Pirate Paradise …just naming ones on top 250 list,
