Side Project / Shared (2021)

Any insight into what may be on this weekend? I'll be flying in to grab my order for the first time and I guess I'm past the anni craze, but hoping they'll have something nice in the taproom/cellar.

 

I would assume they have some Fermiers available for on site consumption.

 

You, me, and Harrison8 all seem to be hoping the same thing. I don't really think we'll know anything until the weekend. Hopefully MJK is still on...

 

I think it's just a waiting game.

FWIW:
Cellar - M.J.K. (pours available as late as yesterday, no confirmation on today or going forward)
Brewery - Framboise du Fermier release Friday (also mentioned on site bottles)

They've been posting pour updates on Instagram, both the Cellar and Brewery accounts. Just sorta biding the time until then. Probably be a Saturday morning decision if I'll head to the Cellar or Brewery for pours.

BTW, I'll be in on Saturday, and am down to split bottles. Should you be interested.

 

I was hoping that BBT would be on as well! But yeah, this week looks good so hoping for a great weekend as well.

 

BBT will 100% be available (either draft or on-site bottles). that was made clear in the blog post regarding BBT packages.

 

Same here. I'm hoping to be there before open, but it's a seven hour drive for me so it all depends on when I actually get out of bed.

Tommy brewed up Little Tree as a “cozy”, hazy, pale ale and focused on Mosaic, Citra, and New Zealand Cascade from @freestylehops for hopping! 5.4% ABV

Drew did some fine tuning and brought back one of our favorite Lagerbiers - Opa! Our German-style Pilsner is being canned right now and is ready to share immediately! 4.8% ABV

The Cellar also has bottle pours of MJK and draft pours of our @privatepressbrewing collaboration Maple in the Wood and BBT21 flowing!"

 

Does anyone else already have a Side Project-centric Thanksgiving beer menu planned out or just me?

 

not exactly a menu, but i opened an OdB v17 with Thanksgiving dinner last year and loved the pairing so i’m planning on a v18 this year.

 

I've opened up Java Cask the last few Thanksgivings. Considering I just got some different Coffee Shop Vibes recently, I'll probably open one of those.

Hadn't really considered pairing anything with the meal itself, but may dig through to see what I have on hand.

 

Anything bubbly goes well with anything fatty. I strongly recommend a non-fruited saison, especially if you have starters that include a charcuterie board. That's what our family always does - it's just not fancy. A variety of 'cheaper' cheeses, meats, crackers, chips, pretzles, pickles, olives, etc. It's a nice setup to the meal, and then it tends to pair nicely with the somewhat indulgent 'classic' T-day menu items, especially if you make a more decadent home-made version of (1) greenbean casserole, (2) stuffing, (3) any type of gravy. Personally, I don't think they pair great with items like Mac N Cheese, onions and cucumber (that's an Indiana thing, folks), or sweet potatoes (especially 'casserole'). Does pair well with meat, though.

This also leaves your palate relatively refreshed and keeps you more upright, setting you up nicely for a dessert/aftermeal paring of something more hearty, like a decadent BA BW, BA Stout, or a heavily adjuncted stout.

 

Grisette, a la Table, la ruche sound like great SP Thanksgiving beers to open.

 

Anyone have any idea when we will see a new blend of Grisette or Marietta Ave?
