Good day BAs! Thanks for starting today's festivities @beergoot! I'm starting off the day of laundry, unpacking, and beer with one from Saint Arnold, a Houston brewery:



The bourbon barrel is more noticeable here than the cognac barrel was in the cognac version, or (more likely) the cognac was just too sophisticated for my lumpenproletariat tastes, such as they are. Still, it's overpriced for the quality/flavor. Rating 3.28, rDev -18%.

 

I got up around 3:30 am est to see it but it was too cloudy. Nice pic!

 

Just sitting here waiting for my groceries to arrive and having a Bud.

 

Sadly had two drain pours of 6-8 year old cellar beer, so wanted a super lock nice beer to pair with my chili.

This is the first Deep Woods Release in a few years that I'm in town for that I am not attending. Being disciplined trying to clear the 300 + beers I still have, though buying a few of my favorites the next two releases.

Was up for the Lunar Eclipse as well, too cold out to pair with a beer. 3:02 AM CST.

 

I,too, got up at 4am EST, but clouds didn’t part until about 5am here…still, we at least got to see the last 40 minutes of the eclipse…very cool. Back at the condo doing the last bit of packing, and finishing off yesterday’s bottle - Cycle’s 3 year BBA Rare DOS (2021)(Heaven Hill):



Poured at 56°. A WC BBA Imperial Stout!

Good morning! A 11-05-2020 Revolution Straight Jacket from the @brewskis meeting in Michigan last summer. A reminder of how much I miss their Deep Wood Series offerings. Thanks Jake it's perfect alongside my egg, bacon and cheese bagel. I'm hoping it induces a rare nap after a night of moon gazing.

Making progress…just about packed up…I’m going to miss the condo, but Mrs.Z prevailed, it’s an unnecessary expense…taking a coffee break - Westbrook’s Coffee Mexican Cake, Affogato Edition:



Bottled 6/16/21. Purchased at the brewery a few days later. Poured at 57°. One of the best Cake stouts out there, and with an infusion of coffee. Delicious spicy chilies, chocolate and coffee. Not a beer to age, imo, so drink up and enjoy now. Cheers gang!

Was up way too early - took my gf and her kid to CLE airport for a 2 week trip back to Colombia.....got up before 2 am....yikes

I'm having a winter warmer, Southern Tier's Old Man Winter, on a cold day after a couple of near 70 degree days. It's a good enough beer if you're buying, but nothing special.

 

Drinking SN Atomic Torpedo. Think I'm going to grab another Hoppy Pack.
This isn't an amped up version of Torpedo. It uses some different hops and malts,
but shares the Torpedo dry hopping. Lighter color, lighter body.



I'm usually not this on the nose, but when else will I play The Firm

OOoooowww I'm howlin' at the Beer Advocate moon! Lunar children we are. Ta @beergoot for picking up todays threadskie in the wee hours along with others. Great pics! I had some pretty wild dreams last night. The main one was that my back yard was my front yard and I bought a big sak of weed at a bait & tackle shop...looney toonz!! Today I'll bust open my single of Sammy Smith's Tadcaster (not a guitar. Sorry @LarryV) Yorkshire Stingo. Been holding out for this dude. It's just incredible!
