Time for one beer before heading to BTV for the Little Feat show!
    Woot!!

    500 ml bottle.
    Brewed July, 2021.
    Bottled Aug., 2021.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 1 inch pure white head over a slightly hazy body with lacing.

Nose of slightly earthy funk and slight citrus.

    Taste is next level!
    First class!
Perfect tartness and funk with a perfect finish of grapefruit.

    Wonderful, near perfect mouthfeel.

Overall, damn, what a gem right here, folks. Vasili has outdone himself, again.

    Cheers!!!

Next up is Geographist from Transient Artisan Ales. It's a sour ale with pineapple, mango, passionfruit and lactose sugar that was generously sent my way by @foundersasap. I've had a couple Transient beers in the past and been impressed. Let's see how this one rates.

Pours a glowing yellow with an inch of fizzy, short-lived white head. The head left behind no lacing, but a clear thin coating on the inside of the glass that I don't think I've ever seen before, at least not with this style. Aroma is very fruit forward with sweetness underlying the pineapple and mango.

Taste is largely similar to the nose. Plenty of pineapple and mango. I can't detect the passionfruit, but it may just be muddled together with the mango. I'm hit or miss on lactose in beer, but this was used in just the right amount, lending a slightly sweet edge to this but without going overboard. Very little carbonation.

Overall, tasty and very easy going down.

[IMG] [IMG] “Breakfast Danish”; a smoothie sour from Tripping Animals Brewing, brought to me by @HeartofMiami . Advanced notice, I love this beer. Now, on to why.

Pours a beautiful opaque plum with a couple fingers of pink bubbles. After a moment, the head reduces to a thin ring leaving plenty of sudsy lacing.

Aroma is our tart base, banana peels, blueberry, and vanilla. The maple doesn’t show up here.

Taste is tart berry up front, followed by puréed banana. Vanilla follows up in the middle being chased closely by a sweet maple syrup and a smooth creamy finish assisted by both cream cheese and milk sugar.

Feel is silky smooth. Medium carbonation lends a delicious crispness to a very velvety, smoothie like beer. I love it. Cheers, fellas.

Pours a nicely hazy straw color with a soapy white head that laces the glass nicely. Nice citrus notes on the nose, primarily tangerine, and a bit of mango.

The taste features the tangerine and mango, there is a bit of peach, which I’m guessing would be the lean to stone fruit referenced on the label. The mouthfeel is medium and to style.

This is another one of those “sit at the bar of the brewery and drink a couple of pints” beers that I’d wager more than a bit of Mrs O’s money are available ALL OVER the PNW. Good stuff.

I notice that you didn't wager your own money. Ya better buy Mrs. O some ramen for lunch until payday, cuz you lost her lunch money. Except for the occasional keg, Stone's Throw stuff is only at the brewery. Which is, indeed, a funky and fun brewery to drink at.

They got a crane and put some shipping containers in the back yard. These became the bathrooms, brewery, mill room, space for fermenters, and outdoors seating. The garage became the taproom, the driveway more outdoor seating, the upstairs of the house the offices, and the downstairs of the house an AirBnB.

Well, with Turkey Day right around the corner, this was was screaming "drink me" so I did. Clown Shoes Pecan Pie Porter. 8% ABV. 85 points on BA, at least it was when I bought this a week ago.
Pours very dark brown even though it looks black in this picture. head is exactly as shown. It does not last long and leaves no lacing. Smells as advertised; pecan pie. Tastes about the same. Somewhat of a 1 trick pony without a lot of complexity. Fairly sweet, but not cloying. Mouthfeel is moderate to heavy for a porter. Mild carbonation.
Buy this if you are looking for a novelty beer to share around the table to accompany T-day desert as something fun for non-beer aficionados to sample. I would say 4 oz. is enough. Don't buy this if you are looking for flavors pulled from natural additions of grains, hops, water, yeast. This one is pretty definitely in the "flavoring chemicals added" category, perhaps as indicated by the can that says "ale brewed with natural flavors".

#2, my excitement to try this beer bordered on irrational, but I’m a beer nerd that immensely enjoys breweries stretching boundaries, so a Scottish Ale featuring Heather flowers is in my sweet spot. Let’s dance!

Pours a beautiful brown color with a a minimal light tan head that sizzles a bit and surprised me - don’t typically see that in Scottish/Brown ales (the can says Scottish Ale, the BA style is Brown Ale) in my experience.

The nose is toffee, a bit of chocolate, some nuts, and a floral note that is indeed the Heather flowers referenced on the can. Very nice.

The taste is led by the nutty flavor, and there’s a nice chocolate note, but it’s the toffee flavor I enjoy most, which fits the Scottish Ale style.

The mouthfeel is on the creamy side and spectabulous, IMHO. What a pleasure it is to drink this beer.

Good evening all, and thanks @cjgiant for kicking this off today.
Tonight I started with an unknown to me but as @ovaltine sent it to me in NBW BIF 14 I figured it had to be good.
    Spoiler, it is
Poured dark, not quite black but darned close. The brief taupe head assured me this was below 12%.
    Spoiler 2, it’s not.
The aroma was more quad like than stout, which intrigued me. Spices and dark fruit and bread all played well together.
The taste, whoa. The expected quad flavor did hit first but quickly gave way to the malty depth of the stouts in this. The can didn’t state what the blend was so I was tasting blind. So to speak. The booze makes itself known fairly quickly, and I thought at the time excessively so, but it wasn’t ruining the flavor so I drank on.
The feel was good and viscous, this needed something with heft under it.
OA, I saw when I looked it up that it’s 15% - yowsa, now the booziness makes sense.
Stellar beer, try it if you can.
    Thanks Michael!

Pours a cloudy pink, small pale pink head leaves just a hint of lacing. I smell fruit, I guess its Dragon Fruit, no idea what they look like or smell like. Taste like fruit juice with some alcohol in it. Thin, not much carbonation. I need to read labels more carefully, especially the fine print. This was just awful!

I'm gonna take a moment to editorialize! If your going to brew an IPA, try to make one better than Two Hearted or Centennial, this fruit juice crap has too stop!

[IMG] Poured into a16oz Snulip glass not sure when it was canned. Pours a very cloudy dark orange with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves a thin wall of lace with nice retention. 4.25

Aroma is slightly musty, white grapes, vanilla, tangerine, and candy apple. 3.75

Taste follows again must, white grapes, vanilla, tangerine, and apple. 3.75

Mouthfeel is pretty big, plenty of life, a little dry, and at 7.5% it goes down easy enough. 4

Overall I wanted more, but still a very nice beer. Worth a try for sure. 3.75

Pours the most beautiful copper color you’ve ever seen, crystal clear with a light tan head that jumps ship immediately. The nose is a sledgehammer of red apple and some grass, and a bready malt note as well.

The red apple is forward (and backward) on the taste and truly delicious - and there’s also a nice bready flavor on the back of the palate, as well as a bit of grass.

The mouthfeel is surprisingly bright, and fitting with this surprisingly delicious and adventurous beer.

    Good evening NBW
I have had this bomber in my cellar fridge since summer and decided to get it out tonight to make room for some Christmas beers
    [IMG]
Sierra Nevada Trip in the Woods Ovila Abbey Ale aged in Brandy barrels with Mandarin Oranges and Cocoa

750 mL cork & caged bottle purchased at the Mills River taproom this summer. Poured into a teku glass at 55°F 11.4% ABV. The beer pours bright dark brown with ruby highlights and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and partial layer of bubbles. Spotty lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring cocoa powder, brandy barrel, and sweet malt. The taste is semisweet burnt sugar caramel & cocoa with notes of prune, leather, citrus, brandy, oak and rich, deep malt. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. No alcohol presence in the aroma or taste. Overall, very good to excellent strong Belgian style ale. Really well integrated and a true depth of flavor with each sip bringing a new experience.

Ironically, my wife and daughter are driving back from a college visit in North Carolina right now. I'm not sure I can afford to have a kid in college near Ashville, NC...

    Cheers all!

We took this morning and finished our food shopping for Thanksgiving. I made it thru Whole Foods where we go for certain things. I hit my tolerance for people in crowds fifteen minutes into the second stop for staples...

So tonight's beer is from a small RI brewery that I did not know was distributing. Seems there are a few select stores where they do.

This is Tilted Barn Fermentation 34. By what I can gather, the Fermentation series is just different styles that aren't necessarily in their main lineup. This one is a Kolsch-style beer. The label art is lovely, so I thought it worthy of turning the can and taking another terrible picture...

It pours every so slightly hazy pale gold. The head is not quite as lively or large as other beers I have had in this style, but it is quite persistent, forming a cap and clinging to the glass like mad.

Clean pilsner malt smell, slight bready sweetness. It takes a few whiffs to find but there is a mild citrus orange maybe tangerine note. Mildly hopped in the noble family, slightly floral, mildly spicy. Very, very tame.

The taste hits quick and the aftertaste features the aromatics. Slightly sweet, clean malt. Then the citrus shows up along with a spicy peppery flavor that both linger - more of a sensation of the aromatics layering over the beer and then hanging on well into the aftertaste.

It's light on the feel, an appropriate level of carbonation, and fairly noticeable bitterness.

I really enjoy supporting local (Tilted Barn is about 40 minutes away) when they make good products. This is a good beer that delivers what it should. It is not as close to a pilsner as some others I have had in this style, but that's fine. I'm feeling it will be around a 3.8. I think the hops could be a bit more assertive and that would round out this beer a bit better. The smell was not strong at all with the aromatics coming out more in the taste - the smell didn't help set the table.

Sori Brewing - Shadow Game XI

Imperial Stout with maple syrup and irish coffee, aged in bourbon barrels, from Estonia (12.6%).

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a small, fluffy head. Smells of caramel malt and rather strong maple syrup, as well as hints of chocolate, coffee and vanilla with this combination being kinda reminiscent of Bailey's liqueur.

Taste is a decent balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt, distinct maple syrup and lighter coffee and chocolate, as well as hints of vanilla and liquorice. Finishes rather sweet, with a light bitterness and some maple syrup, chocolate and vanilla lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a rich body and medium carbonation.

While there are hints of roasted malt and a certain, subtle bitterness to this, it's just way too dominated by the maple syrup and "Irish Coffee", with the sweetness approaching cloying levels that those roasted malts and bitterness fight a losing battle against. While I'm not sure if this actually contains some form of "Irish Cream" liqueur, I wouldn't be surprised if it does. Otherwise this might be an illusion created by the maple syrup, vanilla and coffee notes.

In any case, it's way too sweet for my personal taste, as well as bit too boozy, with the overall balance not being great here. Overall, this might make for a decent Pastry Stout, but is just not up my alley at all with its almost cloying sweetness and boozy and unbalanced flavor profile, making me struggle to finish the 0.33ml bottle.

Currently listening to: Radiohead - Idiotheque.

Long thank you story…Last weekend I said I loved this thread for so many reasons and gave one. The interactions and the people in this thread are so great. I saw the below beer glass before my wife and I went to Seattle in September and I hoped to find it and bring one home. I’m not big on material things at all but I wanted a little souvenir (other than beer ) to bring home as a reminder of the nature and fun times we had there. Well I didn’t succeed so I figured “what the hell” I’ll post in the breweriana FT forum. Well @BBThunderbolt came to the rescue and he sent me some surprise beers as well. This is the one I was most excited for and it didn’t disappoint!

    Boundary Bay - Cellar Dweller

Dark dark brown with nice light brown head. Head took a while to settle and did so in sinkhole form slowly into a think layer with some decent lacing.

I could smell this beer the whole time I was taking the picture. It smelled like hops when you happen to visit a brewery on brew day. Upon smelling the glass I get sap, earthiness, and some char/burnt/roast aromas.

Taste is a very nice roasted sappy dark chocolate combination. The earthiness comes out almost as woodsy on the finish and the roast flavor linger and lingers and lingers so nicely.

Medium body, smooth, nice bitterness, cleans and dry finish. Im struggling not to drink this one too fast.

Love this beer. It’s got so many flavors I love all rolled up into a super well balanced and drinkable beer.

Pours a deep tan/amber color with a thick off-white head and strong lacing.

The smell is pine and mango peel.

The taste is bitter mango and floral.

The mouthfeel is medium body, slightly oily, and low carbonation.

Overall this is a real enjoyable, old school IPA.

    Canned 11.11.21, opened 11.20.21

Brewers Notes: Daily Serving was born out of our desire to express intense, saturated fruit character in beer form. After thoughtful experimentation with Permutation 6.47 and 6.51, we found that a base recipe similar to the German Berliner Weisse style, with its delicate, yet fluffy mouthfeel and even-keeled acidity is the perfect foundation for robust fruit additions.

For Twice the Daily Serving, we've amplified the mouthfeel, fruit addition, and ABV to achieve our most expressive and luscious fruit beer to date. Brewed with an outlandish amount of raspberries, this beer pours a gorgeous deep ruby red color. Lively aromas of homemade jam, juicy raspberry, and mixed berry fruit leather delight the palate. It finishes full-bodied, slightly sweet, and remarkably drinkable.

MALT: American 2-row Barley, Flaked Wheat, White Wheat, Acidulated Malt

    HOPS: CTZ

    ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS: Raspberries

Poured into a handbell ipa , one finger pink creamy foam cap over a deep ruby red hazy liquid

Aroma is raspberries , raspberry jam

Taste is sweet tart raspberry jam, fresh raspberries

Mouthfeel is creamy, low sudsing , sweet tartness tang lingers nicely

Been waiting for this one to be re-released . It is so good . Not as tart as a traditional Berliner weisse and much sweeter and fruitier . Delicious raspberry tasting beer. Highly recommended , gonna buy some more of this beer, Trillium has perfected this style of Berliner weisse
