Hey Advocates! Do you have any pics of beer hauls going back to the 1900's? Here's a good one to start:
From 1995 Brouwerij 'i TJ from Amsterdam, NL. The windmill brewery. It was a really nice journey and I got to have the Extra Special 10 year Anniversary beer. My friend and I brought a few of these beers back to the USA.

OK. I'll keep this thread alive...Amazing but true I have a pic of my very 1st beer haul. Switzerland 1982. In high school I was a big fan (still am) of Scorpions and I found some Mattias Jabs style pants. Groovy! Good times with classmates!
The beers are: Heineken, Lowenbrau, a special Lowenbrau (lower left), Warteck, Warteck Alt and original old school Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. Hilarious!

This above photo alone is enough to keep thread alive. I wasn't 21 before millennium so i can't contribute anything.

I think I have a photo somewhere, not digitized, of a stack of cases of Coors and Olympia that my buddies and I were hauling back east. Said photo, if it exists, was taken in a second-floor motel room in Rapid City, SD. It was 6°F when we got there. We had to unload the trunk and carry the stuff up two flights of stairs, outdoors. We drew quite a few spectators, several of whom made offers to buy. Good times...

Coolness! Find that epic photo! Scan it or capture it on you phone. Would love to see it even if it's grainy or whatnot. Cheers!

Back in 1972-1980 I lived in an farmhouse at the end of Red Clay Road in the middle of a 90 acre tobacco farm. It was a cool place, literally, and I kept Bass Ale, Watney's Red Barrel Ale, Lowenbrau, Ringnes, Guinness, Red Cap Ale, and different Ballantine brews. Also Rheingold, Schlitz, Rolling Rock, Budweiser and lots of stragglers left after legendary volleyball games in the back yard. The beers were stored in an old pantry that was cellar temperature and perfect for the ales. Lots of good wine as well. I have a very clear memory of this constantly replenished booty and wish that I had a picture to share.

I do, but I'll have to dig them out. Here's my high school crew in Spring 1969 having fun with a friendly cop in the parking lot. I'm second from the left. These are my two best friends years later having fun. It was a good party.[IMG]

I don't think these kids  on here realize fully what a pain in the ass photography was back when. You had to buy film, load it into the camera, and set the film speed. When the roll was finished, you had to rewind it and send it off for processing. After a few days, you picked up your prints or slides from the processor. You didn't know what you had until then. If you shot Kodachrome, you had to send it to one of only a handful of labs in the country that could do dye transfer processing. There was no digital storage; there were boxes, envelopes, and slide trays. My problem was that I never threw away a photograph, no matter how bad it was. I still have them all, in boxes, envelopes, and slide trays.

Here's what I can do: I'll check my storage unit to see if I can find a box of photographs from the '70's. If I do, and if there is a photo of the Coors/Olympia haul, I will scan it and post it.

Apropos of nothing, anybody know what the statute of limitations is on bootlegging? :sunglasses:

There are a few pics of 20th century beer drinking on my JK's Beer Photos page. (Sorry for some messed up captions, spacing/centering pics, and the contrast on some images - Google changed their "Sites" - again! - and I haven't gotten around to fixing everything - it'll take me days - or even learning how to:grimacing:. Bastards!)
    Still can be:

I have about 30 rolls of undeveloped film in the cannisters. From the years 1981-?. Can they still be developed? I'd love to see them. We had a great and versatile Pentax and later Martha's dad's Leica. They were different and both are still great I'm sure.

Can't hurt to try. Kodacolor and Ektachrome are pretty resilient, and the processes they use (C41 and E6) are commonly available. You might be pleasantly surprised with the results.

If you have unprocessed Kodachrome, you're out of luck. The last remaining lab ceased processing in 2010. :slight_frown:

Photo of a photo, so not the best image, and the aftermath, so not really a haul: either way

1985...the morning after a going away party.
In my head I was trying to get an infinity look with bottles disappearing into the distance, but time constraints and available technology prevented better results.

    Good times.
