Dunno, sounds somewhat religious-based to me -- one might say, immaculate?:wink:

I think the code is the 2 digit year and julian date 21218 which would be Aug 8, 2021.
I'm with you, is it packaged date or best by date?

That's why I asked how it was tasting.

Actually, that's what leaves me wondering which one it is, since the beer doesn't taste old.

It's just not a very good beer and now I'd like to know if the lack of a hop presence is due
to the age of the product or the recipe. Based on the taste, I'd say 08/06/21 is the packaging
date. Btw in my earlier post I typed Aug 8 when it should have been Aug 6.

Those are usually the bottle manufacturer's code (they used to be in black ink, might still be depending on the glass company) - time & date of manufacture, plant, machine, etc.

AB's been switching their coding over the past decade or so. In 2015 the St. Louis Dispatch noted they were ditching the "Born On" terminology:
As well as linking to an older article about similar previous changes in the code and shelf life periods:
At this point, if the label doesn't specifies what sort of code it is (like the Michelob carton above), I'd suggest calling AB's Toll Free Number.
    1 (800) 342-5283 aka 1-800-DIAL BUD

Do you mean "like the Mich carton above *doesn't* specify?"

I bought some yesterday due to this thread.

I must say that I rather enjoyed the experience....

Sad to say that I would have purchased this regularly...

Would have? Don't fall for the thread title if you really like the beer -- it's not gone.

Who's that? Oh, the former cape-wearing Byrd who teamed up with Stills and Nash (and, sometimes, Young)? No that musta been his brother... You're dating yourself (and me), there.

I'm gonna play a game of RACE AGAINST THE EDIT CLOCK /BEER TRIVIA (in which I make a claim and then do some Googlin' to see if I'm recalling it correctly) - and keep On Topic. I'm pretty sure that Norm Crosby did TV commercials for both Rheingold's early "light" beer Gablinger's and, a few years later, for Miller Lite? Or was it Bud Light?

    OK = GO!

Ah, got the second brand wrong!

Nevermind, didn't know Frazier had that nickname.

But did anyone else recognize R. J. Johnson?

When you call the number they direct you to the Anheuser-Busch.com website, which has a chat function. They respond quickly and the responder seemed to take their time answering questions as if they were looking up information.

I provided the code 21281 and got the response:

That's a Julian code, so a born on date. You're correct about the date: 8/6/2021 (direct quote)

I also asked about the code (in this case 22DEC21) on 25oz cans of Budweiser, not sure if it's the same on other sizes:

25oz cans of Budweiser have a best by date and the term is 110 days
