Am at Belmont Station in Portland today, trying a weee pour of the 2021 on draft. At least to me, this tastes like pretty much every other version I've had of new BCBS. It's fine for what it is, but I won't need to buy any more of this beer this year. Nice amount of bourbon with significant underlying molasses... pretty typical BCBS.

Was out here on Wednesday actually right next to the 2019 release you speak of...

I got the cheaper variants (Cola, Fourteen, Cherry Wood), but none of the high-end ones. I didn't see a BCBS Blanton's but did bag an actual Blanton's, which are difficult to find around here.

Where are you in Ohio? Didn’t see anything like this in Cincy. I was actually at a store that has 6 bottles of variants.

Were all the bottles proven to be bad? I thought AB/GI initially just pulled or refunded certain batches based on what days they bottled (or transported - didn't they trace the problem to those tanks?) but had no way of knowing exactly what run of bottles were infected.

Some runs are definitely known to be infected. That said, some runs that were claimed to be infected definitely were not. I got them at a 'good price' via trade, but I ended up with the better part of an entire case of 15's. They were not infected, but as I recall they were all part of an infected date. Yes I am playing fast and loose with terminology like 'infected date'. If anything, that sounds like the term for insemination..."Oh god, she has a parasite living inside of her. How long has it been ongoing? 8 months!? What was the infection date?!"

TomFoley has the info. It looks like you can enter the batch date lottery to decide if you're going to go to the firing range.

I believe they just requested you remove the excess links. In my experience that isn't an issue if you use the direct link

Uninfected 2015 was also damned good.

Agree on 2012, which I also find aged the best.of ones I've cellared.

Cleveland. We hit up two stores for everything except a single variant (Blantons) we had to pick up at a third and final stop.

But yeah, I was shocked to see the display of all the 2018, 2019 and 2020's along with the 2021 release. As of this morning, supposedly, they still have a decent stock of the selection remaining including 21' variants.

I grabbed 4 4x16 Black ops at $14.99 each out the door. I enjoy it. The four roses comes out in a pretty big way but I like it more than BCBS. At $3.75 a can it’s a better price and much less sweet to my taste.

    Enjoy

At least in SF Bay Area, BCBS has been climbing in price about $1/yr since 2015. I remember they were $9.99 each back then and people were complaining about it vs the 4-pack.

But this year, the cheapest we get it for is 13.99 and BevMo has 'em for 14.99 a pop. (The variants have typically been pretty expensive and IMO are more about exclusivity/collectivity than value, so I won't go into that.)

Off topic, but I pulled a 2019 out of my beer fridge this past friday, and it drank horribly. I thought it was a great batch fresh. Not sure what went wrong over the last 2 years.

Huh that's weird, last year around this time the 2019 was drinking wonderfully
