Well shit. I was randomly actually planning to have a day date there with the wife, but she wanted to do some holiday shopping instead. I have some convincing work to do this evening.

I only liked this out of obligation. You provided good, factual information. The meaning, however, is straight up :-1::-1::-1:

Anyone see any Benthic out in the wild at any of the Binny's yet? He keeps telling me they're supposed to get a case or two, but has no idea when...

I was surprised it didn’t land last week. It’s gotta be this week.

side note, I had a friend grab me a LOT of Southern Hemi, and I still don’t know if it was enough. If you grew up on classic IPA, moved on to hazy, and got worn out before returning to your roots, then this is the hazy for you. It’s really just something any hop head wants to try. A super new school hop blend, nerdy yeast science, and a beer that drinks like an ipa that makes you want more after every can

I actually don't know about this year, but last year a case or two just showed up unannounced at Binny's and disappeared quickly being sold as 2pks of 16oz cans for $25.
If Benthic does get distro, I'm guessing 4pks will be either $50 at Binny's, or single cans will be $13 each. (since 4pks of 12oz cans were $45 at the brewery this year)

Love me some Half Acre, but $25 for a 2pk of 12 oz cans has to be a new record, right? A buck an oz.

Glad to see you branching from Hop Butcher!

In all seriousness, $1/oz is pretty cheap for BA beer these days. Mikerphone and Hubbard’s Cave is typically over $30 for a bomber, P3 is even higher. All of the BCS variants are well over $1/oz and closer to $2/oz or more.

For Half Acre, sure but there are plenty of other beers that are right up there if not more. Heck even regular BCS is edging close now.

With raw material pricing increases, transportation, general supply chain issues and staffing issues, it's easier to understand the causes and reasons behind price increases. I'm sure there's some margins being built-in in there but the other issues are real none the less.

I normally get an allotment so it's not an issue, but this year I was on vacation on the west coast, and I wasn't waking up at like 6am for the release to go live. So... just looking for some regular withot driving into the city for a 4 pack. I know Binnys has gotten some the last 3-4 years, but haven't seen it yet, so was just curious if anyone else had. I did talk to someone at the brewery who said it would see its normal limited distro, but that was all she could tell me.

If someone from the western burbs is ever headed to HA and wants to mule me a 4 pack, that would work too lol. I'm in Bolingbrook.

I passed on Benthic this year because I got myself sick of it over the last year; too many 16 oz cans I had to drink alone (ironically right when they made the correct decision to switch to 12 oz cans), but as someone who dropped $55 on a 16.5 oz bottle of BCBS, I can't be too mad at the pricing. HA is pretty damn dependable about the quality you're getting in the can, so I can tolerate $13 a can, even if it's a little steep.
Also this. I'm paying prices for a single taco that would've made my eyes water a few years ago, and I know it's rough on the businesses as well.

Here’s a note from Matt Young: This year, we are utilizing a combination of concentrated liquid coffee brewed by Dark Matter and added to the finished beer just before packaging as well as an infusion of whole bean coffee for added layer of coffee aroma. The combo does a really nice job of filling in the gaps and valleys in the beer, rounding the whole experience out, and doing a bunch of behind the scenes deep flavor work without stealing too much of the spotlight. If you tried this beer before the coffee went in, you would taste an unbalanced, overly shallow and fruity and alcoholic stout. The coffee integrates so well it's hard to fully appreciate how much it transforms the base beer into something that needs to exist.

    Tasting Notes:
    Delicious Coffee
    Gooey Fudge Brownies
    Cola Foam
    Burnt Mallow
A welcomed, warming, fuck it all spirit

Big Hugs glasses ($15) and coffee beans ($25) available in the taproom today.
