I’m a loser but that’s ok. I shouldn’t be too greedy after getting a bottle at stout stock. Cheers to the winners!

She'll probably end up with a pretty nice Christmas present this year.

I went to Pastrytown this weekend and got to try my first BA TG beer, Term Oil 7. Gotta say I quite liked it! One of my favorites of the day. On the other hand, The fluffernutter term oil was NOT enjoyable.

Pompeii, Gnug, and Dorthys are heading to 12oz 12 pack cans. Loving Gnug back on the menu.

2021 KBBS tasting very maplely. There’s clear barrel prescience which gives it a distinctly different taste from MD but totally different from 2018/2016, which is one of the best beers I’ve ever had. But this is different not in a good way, not as balanced.

of note had double dawn, crimson x hops and sultan of nectar either their tap line needs cleaning or their IPAs are a shell of themselves. Flying seahorse canned early this fall was as good as any IPA I’ve had this year, witches brew was a solid one and forced flair is good not great, but those 3 listed at the top on tap were just bad.

Also of note cinnamon roll sucks.

For those going to KBBS, their taps today were assassin 2020(worst one ever) toppling waters, KBBS (obviously) Mornin delight and term oil mostra

Funny you say that... Lets head down the rumor mill.

So from what I understand Mike is barely involved in the brewing process of late especially with current and new IPA's. Eric is now the front man in that category. He's fine, but he's defiantly not as clear sighted as Mike. I see him as more as fan of Mike and someone who trying his best to fill his shoes in a sense. Think Tim Cook to Steve Jobs....

Mike's vested interest, from him rejoining TG back in 2015, fully came to fruition late last year, early this year. Hence Mike isn't brewing much anymore, and he's fallen into a minority share holder roll while still doing some stout brewing. Honestly I cant fault him, he worked hard back in the day and he's now pretty much retired.

Another antidote, my brother hasn't seen Mike at the taproom / brewhouse in 3-4 months. He use to see him at least once a week.

Take these rumors for what you will, but I have defiantly noticed a sharp decrease in "wow factor and quality of not only there new IPA's but some of their staples. I looking at you King...

Also where the fuck has FSM been?

How does someone with that much experience and vested interest in a company "fall into a minority share holder"?

Also, definitely* ... unless you really, really mean to be defiant.

From my experience with Hazy IPAs quality ebbs and flows per release. Not every batch of King Julius from Tree House is the same, some are better than others. Similar experience at my local breweries that make hazies. I’ve experienced the same with TG IPAs. So I wouldn’t be too concerned until it starts to become a noticeable decrease in quality for an extended period of time. Also, I love KBBS but my chief complaint typically with any heavily adjuncted BA stout is that the adjuncts tend to mute the barrel. I’ve felt this way about every batch of KBBS I’ve had. Still a fantastic beer though.

I've always wondered why more breweries don't try double or tripple BAing beers that they want to adjunct, whether that's one or a few. I know it's a gamble, and it obviously raises the cost of the beer, so maybe it's not realistic, but it seems like if you can get away with a single BAing, you could probably make a double BAing work without it significantly increasing the cost. Just seems like that is the way to really get a punch of bourbon in the face while still tasting maple, coconut, vanilla, etc.

When you say 2020 is the worst ever I’m assuming you mean on tap? I had it out if the bottle and it was fantastic. Much better than 2016 and 2018 that I’ve tried also out of the bottle.

I meant bottle. Was very dark fruit/raisin forward. Was my least favorite of 2016-2021. Of note I loved the thick dark chocolate of 2018 (3x out of bottle and 2x tap all same flavor).

I did do a 2019 maman side by side with 2020 assassin to be fair but never had the drive to try 2020 again

Please report back on the DDH King cans, I want to love it lol!

As for Mike, I think he is doing the collabs. I base this on the fact that I ran into him in Colorado this summer at Knotted Roots and I'm pretty sure the Weld Works collab came out after that visit. Anecdotal I know, just throwing it out there.

    EXACTLY!
Yesterday I was in Davenport/Bettendorf/Rock Island and thought there might be a chance in IA, even though it was only canned a week ago. The IA stores said they had not heard of it, and the store in Rock Island thought they might get it after Christmas!?!
That does not bode well for us folks in the burbs of Chicago...:flushed:
