Lol. My password didn't go through. I filled in the new password and it said I couldn't use the old password. Strange loop.

I was fortunate enough to try Bubble Wrap out there a couple weeks ago. Congrats to those that scored a bottle though. Nice to see some opportunity for people who don't live close.

Yeah, package put me over into going for it. Big fan of the new SdF PN, and liked this new Merci batch waaaay more than b3 & b4.

Agreed. I really enjoyed it onsite and I'll really "enjoy" spending this money at Revolution next week too. Glad there's so much great beer available all the time.

Got it! It also didn’t pop for me at first. I was smashing F5 and it was finally there. Luckily was able to snag one.

Now I just need a proxy and I’m set. Congrats to all who got lucky!

The PW reset threw me for a loop too but fortunately got it resolved 10 min before.

I actually really liked merci b5, probably the most oak forward saison I’ve had from SP. I got another one I plan to take down soon

I'll be passing through st Louis tomorrow and would be willing to make some effort to stop by side project to get bottles to go. I've never visited so I'm just wondering if this would be worth it and if so which location is the better option? Thanks

Always worth it if you like wild ales. Not going to get any stouts to go, but even if you just have a minute to stop there's plenty of great stuff on tap. To go beers are usually pretty similar, but check the web site for details on what's available (and usually an up to date tap list).

On another note, has anyone tried Sakura yet? Reading the description I cringe at the idea that Side Project would venture into pastry sour territory, but if anyone can pull off vanilla and fruit in a sour without it being a mess it's Side Project.

Just to add to this: Their website can be confusing if you haven't spent time poking around. To see what's available to order online, you click 'beer', but to look at onsite draft/bottles/to go, you have to go to 'visit us' and then navigate to Brewery and Cellar, respectively. They each have their own lists.

i liken it more to Casey and using vanilla in like Jammy and Velvet. i haven’t had those but i wouldn’t classify it as a “pastry sour” (at least not yet before trying it)

Thanks for the info, unfortunately for me I take a week off of any drinking every month and this happens to be that week. On their wild ales, the only I've had is Grissette. I thought it was very sour for the style. Are all of their wild ales in that flavor range or do they make some that emphasize a bit more funk?

Also, do they make or package any beer that isn't fancy bottle BA stuff? If so, how is it?

The not fancy stuff is all from Shared brewing, which is under the same roof and someone else can probably explain the division there better but all of their canned stuff is great. You can find it all on the same part of the website. Haven't had this recent batch but Opa, their pilsner, is always very good. The lager game has really stepped up in the last year or so.

I've been meaning to ask about an update on this for awhile. I feel like back when Shared had only really put out Coffee vibes, and it sat, that someone indicated that CK shares his space/equipment for Shared to be brewed, but it isn't his doing. But, more recently I have certainly seen where they indicate that he is behind at least some of the beers. So, I'm honestly pretty confused why Shared exists. Some guesses:

    (1) To keep SP as BA only beers
    (2) To separate what keeps SP from what doesn't (i.e. SP isn't IPAs, lagers, pastry stouts, etc.)
    (3) Less pressure to produce only highest tier beers.

Sweet, thank you. Just looked at their to go lists and it looks like there will be plenty to choose from. Thanks for the help

The statement "more vanilla than we usually use in our stouts" doesn't sound like subtle vanilla to me, but that's why I was curious to see what those who have tried it think.

I always thought Shared was to allow Cory and team more room to explore outside of the confines of Side Project. SP focuses on barrel work, Shared has the ability to do anything outside of that. At one point, Shared only had one standalone brewer.

I recall reading this awhile back.

They mention Rich’s name so much in the description of the beer I read this as “if this sucks it’s because of Rich”. Poor guy.:laughing:

There is a little(or a lot) of read b/w the lines needed on this one to really understand why Cory made Shared, but as I recall...

Cory created Shared as a way for any brewer working for SP can create a beer, start to finish, but maintain the rights to the recipe. As an example, if Tommy went and opened his own brewery, I believe he could pump out Tommy Fresh as his own.

Also, SP beers are "100% aged in oak" and Shared beers do not have to meet that standard.
