Good morning BAs! A chilly 35° start here in RVA…a style I’ve had before but not reviewed on BA - “Roggenbier” by Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co., Charleston SC:

Canned 9/30/21. Poured at 55°. Opaque amber body with thin beige head that disappears quickly; poor cap retention; thin ring; some soapy lace. Sweet malt/rye nose; brown bread; more rye as beer warms. Taste follows nose with almost a tart tangy aftertaste. Medium light body; moderate minus carbonation; dry rye finish. Overall, while probably right for the the style, the juxtaposition of sweet and tangy doesn’t work for me, and the beer is drying; if you like rye, this may be a style to try.

    4.0 | 3.75 | 3.75 | 3.75 | 3.75
    Score: 3.77 rDev -9.4%
    Only 2 scores so far…

Have a great Tuesday y’all, and cheers from chilly Richmond!

Good day BAs! And a hardy THANKS! to @DoctorZombies for starting today's thread! No snow here yet today, although Erie just north of me has been calling for some. Today's New Breakfast Beer is another from NBS BIF #14 and @Roy_Hobbs :

Pretty nice wild ale from Saurez Family Brewery, a brewery we don't see out here in the sticks - rating 3.99, rDev -5%. Thanks Ross!

I don't think any place sees Suarez beers, except their own facility which is (in fact) in the sticks. They do ship to PA however (only PA and DC for some reason, not even NY) so you can always get your hands on some of their awesome beers, especially their unique lagers.

Good day all and thanks @DoctorZombies for kicking off the party right on time.

Chilly, wet, gloomy? Yes to the all three here too, it is what it is and if we intend to enjoy next spring, which is a long way we have to endure some of this…

    Good Morning!
A very calm 4° this morning. The wind the last few days was way too much and kept us in by the wood stove. I've been out all morning. A beautiful and peaceful day.

Blackout Stout is hitting the spot.... :beers:

Hops Showcase Idaho-7X7. NEDIPA from Moersleutel (NL).
Famous for their dark beers (think engine oil like substance, coffee, chocolate, peppers taste), they are getting rather good at hoppy beers now too.
    Cheers!

Out running errands…stopped into the local sports bar with 45 taps - Hardywood’s “GBS” on the left, Devils Backbone’s “Vienna Lager”:

I drank the lager to let the stout warm up. One of my favorite lagers (former GABF Gold Medal), and a seasonal stout I look for when in town, GBS - Layers of flavors…tastes like a gingerbread man cookie with chocolate buttons and a drizzle of honey; vanilla and cinnamon on the back end. Good stuff!

Nice “go to” at $9.99 a sixer. We are talking how Whole Foods has gone down hill in the West forum. My nearest one used to have good local options, but not so much anymore. I was told by an employee that Whole Foods wants all of their stores to basically carry all of the same beers. What a shame:

Now this Modelo on the other hand is definitely more skunky than I ever remember before. Tastes better in Texas.

I guess this one wasn’t popular enough but I liked it. 2012 release
