Not sure what the total ends up being with taxes, fees, and shipping, but the cost is retail on the bottles. Even if the the total adds $5 or so to each bottle that doesn’t seem too bad to have a Samuel, etc. delivered to your front door from the comfort of your couch as a VT resident.

I’ll see if I can test it on Monday for the total.

Blessed b2 for Bubble Wrap? 1:1 or needs a plus?

Blessed side definitely needs to add a plus. Not sure how much because blessed got released on Tavour but even with it being released there people still were buying and trading almost at b1 values. Bubble wrap seems to be holding right now. I’d say like a vsoj can as a + or something along those lines on the blessed side.

Is Blantons BCBS for blessed b2 a fair trade to both sides?

Since being released through Tavour, Anchorage beers have gradually gone down in trade value. The beers released before Tavour still seem incredibly difficult to get, but for example Blessed b1 is/was one of the best beers of 2020 and it still trades under 1 VRU. Batch 2 is around 1/2 VRU and I imagine it stays there.

    1 Blessed b2 ~ 1 Blanton's BCBS (for now)
    2 Blessed b2 ~ 1 SP Bubble Wrap

Possibly unpopular question, but can people distinguish a big difference between HF whales and “shelfie” saisons?

I haven't had this thought specifically with HF, but I have with regard to some beers/styles. Palates differ, but to my palate I certainly notice the nuance more with stouts/BA stouts than saisons. I've often been really surprised at how 'expensive' some are to trade for. I don't think I have a palate to appreciate these compared to stouts, as it seems like there is much more complexity with a wider ranger of flavors with stouts. Maybe it's bias, but it seems analogous to red vs. white wine.

While this general idea definitely has merit, I think some of you are selling yourselves short. I’m hardly a cicerone, and I’m pretty confident that I can tell the difference between Florence and Flora / similar. There’s something to be said about how high the floor is at Hill, but the “whales” are noticeably more complex and flavorful, I think.

There’s times I’d prefer the simplicity and drinkability of the shelf stuff, and times I’m looking for something a little bigger.

That being said, I’ve seen others note that some of the older “magic” batches of Anna, Arthur, etc are right up their with their more whale-y counterparts.

I agree, it's all over the map.

While Arthur and Florence seem to get more attention, Anna is a beautiful beer by all standards. I've enjoyed several regular and fruited Annas far more than Ann, yet the foeder and BA versions of Dorothy and Arthur have impressed me far more than their shelfie versions.

It's not that there's any inconsistency (to the contrary, I find the consistency from base batch to base batch, and BA release to BA release, to be impressive). And it's not that some things are bad relative to others. It's just personal preference and experience.

I'm trying to get a case of Dogheadfish Barley Wine. Can anyone help me out there? I don't know how to trade or what to trade.

Forager Agates with a nice plus for BBT? Is that close? Would Agates and Kent the Otter be over?

Agates with a nice plus should do it. Agates + Kent the Otter should get a nice plus on the BBT side.

So first off, welcome to BA. My recommendation is to start off by reading the rules and protocols for the site, as well as the help forum.

With respect to your particular question, I would recommend reposting your question/request in the regional forum applicable to wherever you live. DFH sees national distribution, so it may not be necessary to trade for the beer you're looking for. That being said, I'm not entirely sure what DFH beer you're looking for. DFH makes a wide range of beers, including several that would arguably qualify as barleywine. Old School is the DFH bw I'm most familiar with... Is that the beer you're looking for? (I'm assuming it probably is, given your review score).

Regardless, it would be my recommendation that you post your question in the appropriate regional forum, perhaps with a bit more information regarding the specific DFH beer you're looking for. Good luck!

King of Darkness. What in the world is the trade value on this beast? I saw the comments above on Anchorage pre- / post-Tavour. But this is a super limited $100/bottle collab w SP … but doesn’t seem to attract much in the trade-o-sphere.
