If Zilkers is pushing beer in San Antonio then grab a six pack of Icy Boys, if it was in the dictionary, crushable would be a descriptor. Any of the pilsners from Live Oak fit that bill as @champ103 pointed out. Bat Outta Helles from Freetail (local brewery) is crushable (I rated this beer years ago, and didn't do it justice, when I didn't appreciate a good lager). Enjoy the ride

And crush some Shriners, too, while you're at it. Goddamn cultists!

The answer is the one I give to most questions, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Hamm’s is the correct answer.

Failing that (and basically, cheap, swill lager isn’t that different from Premium, swill lager) there are bound to be local and regional pale ales (not too strong, not too hoppy, well balanced) which are equivalent to the standard bearer (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale)?which won’t break the bank.

Locally, Summit Extra Pale Ale is about $.25 more per bottle (or can) than Bud when purchased in a 12-pack.

Crush what you like! Last couple days I've been lashing back cans of Heineken, Leinenkugel's Toasted Bock (5.1%ABV and uber light). Texas distro is different than my locale but we all must share some brews nationwide. As mentioned in other posts here, Bitburger, Warsteiner, Warsteiner Dark, Grolsch, Hamm's (the dirty 30 is affordable), Old Milwaukee and the like are fairly easy to find and widely distro'd. I'm sure beautiful Texas has loads of great crushables local and national! Sometimes the chase is better than the catch. Also be sure to check in regional forums in specific areas here on BA for even more awesome results. Cheers!

    :+1:
Many "cheap" European lagers are quite the value; this category is around $5 - 7 for a 4 pack 16oz cans. And that does include Bitburger.

    Others to try:
    - Konig Pilsner
    - Kostritzer Schwartzbier (a dark lager)
    - DAB Dortmunder
    - and a new fave for me, Kasztelan unfiltered lager from Poland, which is essentially a damn nifty zwickel bier for only 5 bucks (!).

If you're wanting to avoid basic cheap macro lagers, one of my favorite values is Paulaner Pils. I've been enjoying good old Sam Adams Boston Lager to start this cold season whenever i want a nice flavorful brew that I don't have to think much about. $14.99 for 12 packs.

Many BAs from the US seem to have access to

    Weihenstephaner Helles & Original
    Rothaus Tannenzäpfle / Rothaus Pils
    König Pilsener/Veltins/Warsteiner/Radeberger
    Paulaner Münchner Hell & Pils
    Hofbräu Original
    Ayinger Pils & Jahrhundert Bier

The season is over but maybe you are still able to find German (October)Festbiers in your area.

    Prost!

Yup, that beer is available (to me) but at 16 bucks a six-pack not consistent with the OP's budget - "so I can’t afford all-founders type stuff".

    Cheers!

Lord Chesterfield is the correct answer to this question, 5% at $13 a 12 pack it's perfect. The Mount Rushmore of bang for your buck beers is just Lord Chesterfield 4 times, Hamm's is fine but Lord C is in a class of it's own. Poor review score is skewed by the fact Yuengling used to put it in those dumb ass green glass bottles that just skunk the hell out of everything, now it's heaven in a can.

Your approximate location could be useful. Brooklyn Lager and Sam Adams Boston Lager are widely available beers. Considering price (and if you live in their main distribution area), some Narragansett brands like Narragansett Lager might fit (I liked their Fest beer). If you have a Lidl nearby, six packs of half-liter Perlenbacher German Pils are cheap and good; their Czech Lager is very good but a step up in price. Your taste preferences can't be predicted by any of the posters. There is no RIGHT answer.

    My picks would be:

    Night Shift Lime Lite
Jack's Abby Shipping Out Of Boston
    Lawson's Knockout Blonde
    DFH SeaQuench
    Weinhenstephaner Kristallweissbier

All easy drinking and (at least in Mass) widely available. I have others that I like to crush, but I understand that crushing Rauchbiers is not for most people

Why aren't there more Mount Rushmore of... threads btw? Was this a dead horse beaten in like 2016 and I'm missing something? I find it a great way to recommend beers, and encourage a little bit of debate.

Since the op mentioned Stella, I'll just add that while I think it's quite good for the style, it's also overpriced by at least 50% more than these Euro lagers.

But you can obtain Lord Chesterfield in bottles?

I personally prefer this beer in cans:
