I saw this article this morning and thought it was especially interesting given the recent thread on issues breweries are facing on Instagram.

    How Breweries Are Embracing TikTok

Instagram is removing beer photos from brewery pages, and refusing to explain why

Tik Tok is such an enigma. I caved in earlier this year when pursuing a an outlet for creative content, and I quickly realized how intense their algorithm is. Once it puts you in a bottle it wants to keep you there. I imagine brewers will find success once they "reach" that side or community of TT. As for the blurb about "being the opposite of the perfect shot" not sure how accurate that is. While I feel there is massive success in candid videos I have also seen massive success with crisp and clean vids with edits involved. I think a more appropriate description would be user want to see it come naturally, organic and not corpo.

One thing however if they are exploring TT to get away from IG censorship, I dont think they will be happy. There is a good deal of censorship on TT and ive seen 3mil view videos/accounts get suspended or worse taken off due to user complaints.

Regardless Id love to see what they can bring to TT.

It makes sense, playing to the trends is one of the only ways to stay relevant

I never really got into TikTok but I don't blame brewers at all for trying new avenues of social media, considering Instagram's and Facebook's excessive levels of censorship.

TikTok is a true rabbit hole. I tried to avoid it for a while but took a look at it and now i can find myself on it for a while. I try to avoid all the booty shaking (as those are the traps) and keep my eye out for cooking and cleaning hacks but have yet to find anything beer related.

These brewers are gonna have to wait 5 years until the tik tok target audience turns 21, or else they are just wasting their time :joy:

I've never been on tiktok and have no plans to, but my thinking is along the same lines as IPAExpert69 - is the target audience for craft beer consumerism really hanging out on TT all that much? The draw of every new SM platform is just this generation's middle and high schoolers. Maybe im wrong.

You are not wrong, I'm 25 and I'd be considered a dinosaur on tik tok.

Very true, but maybe it'll keep them away from shitty FMBs and such when they start to drink (illegally or not)

The great irony is brewers are moving from the American owned Facebook and Instagram due to censorship, but moving to Tik Tok which is owned by one of the most censored countries in the world, China. I would complain that anyone using Tik Tok doesn’t really doesn’t care about protecting democracy, but I guess events in the US over the past year proved we really don’t care about democracy anyway.

I don't see any breweries saying they are going to tik tok to avoid censorship. I think they're just trying to widen their marketing reach

Ah I thought the same until I was in charge of out reach for my old job, boss always asked me why i never saw the trends she did, she showed me her TT and it was ALL "cougertok" stuff, I have been traumatized.

But more serious note there is a big audience for alcohol on TT thats for sure. Ive personally seen some great mixed drink recipes on there.
